"Rugged" black boots to wear with dresses?

Another boots one!

Looking for some rugged sole boots ideally in black, but that can be worn with dresses

I've looked at Dr Martens and Clark's
moda in pelle Shoon M&S

I do like the chunky R&B Chelsea boots but they are £££

Where else can I look? Any brands I need to check out?

Toms do some really nice boots

Seconding Solovair. Beautifully made, and comfy from the first wear, unlike DMs which break your feet in rather than vice-versa.

Grensons are great too.
