I've felt pretty downcast about my appearance since my face assumed the appearance of the love child of a melted candle and a saddlebag! My deep-set hooded crepey eyes appear at least a decade older than the rest of me. The skin was made worse by a long period of allergies during which I rubbed my eyes furiously. I've decided to have them sorted surgically - they are way beyond any superficial measures - and would appreciate recommendations for a surgeon and also an understanding of your experiences, timescale to being publicly presentable etc. Thank you! :)

I’m not anywhere near Scotland so can’t advise but feel your pain. I’m sure there are people 20 years my senior with less saggy eyes! I have terrible genetics and my eyelids started going rapidly south after I turned 35 😄 Would love to get them fixed but I’m not sure I could ever justify the money.

Im not in Scotland and sorry I can't offer any advice. I'm booked in to to get an upper lid blepharoplasty on NHS next week. I just put the eyelid drooping down to the ageing process and never even considered/thought about surgery. It was my optician who told me that it was possible to get it fixed on the NHS in some cases. She referred me to Opthalmology dept and after they had a look and did a vision test, the consultant said it was affecting my peripheral vision and that they could fix it. My sister who works in a different hospital eye department assures me it's quite simple procedure and all the patients she's seen who've had it done have been thrilled with the outcome, so I am now looking forward to getting it done and hopefully have an improvement in my vision and a couple of years knocked off my face.

Darren Mcakeown in Glasgow is your man. His own face does not reflect the quality of his work ( sorry, not sure how to phrase that less baldly).
Not cheap, but good.

Thank you! @Jellycats4life I know what you mean, but I have reached the point where any effort to maintain my appearance seems pointless, which is a bit grim. Regardless of weight or flattering haircut I still look older than my mum, and as though I've not slept for a month and am going through a deeply harrowing experience. At times this is true, but when it is not it is demoralising to look so thoroughly beaten, my winning personality can only go so far to counter the impression my face gives!
@antwacky wishing you a fantastic result! Mine is aesthetically dreadful but functionally not yet endangering other road users. It does make me feel tired though - I don't know if you have ever used the 'eye magic' strips but they have the effect of taping the lid up temporarily and I feel so relieved when they are on, without the weight of the skin on my lashes.
@LadyOfTheCanyon that made me smile - I've met him :) I believe he has a surgeon who does his chopping and slicing work, would love if he came recommended because I think Dr D is a good person at heart and not cynical...

Thanks @Bongespobsparepants it certainly does increase my fatigue but I didn't realise that it was affecting my vision until I attended the Opthalmology dept, they tested my vision with my eyes taped and then without tapes, I was amazed at the difference. The consultant commented that my lids were weighing down my lashes. Hoping that I don't look to frightful at Christmas! Good luck, hope you find someone soon.

I totally understand why you’re doing it. I’m jealous tbh!

@Bongespobsparepants Hello, may I ask if found a surgeon and went ahead with the treatment? If so are you happy and did you have just the bleph or a brow lift as well/ instead?
