I’m mid forties and have never properly found a lipstick that I love on. I always feel a bit self conscious and overly made up, despite being otherwise confident with make up and dressing up.
Would love any recommendations - prefer satin/ shine/ sheer/ gloss definitely no matt finish. Open to anything that would suit me - pale cool toned skin with blonde hair, green eyes. Would consider pinks, berry tones would love red but never found anything I love. Any recs much appreciated.

Chantecaille make Lip Chic which is a glossy lipstick and has lovely pinks.
YSL Vinyl Lip Stain is a lovely gloss.
Charlotte Tilbury has Lip Lustre.
I like Trinny London Lip Glow and her lip gloss.

So sorry for delay in responding.

@Deathraystare thanks for the inspiration, I love give me fever so definitely going to try at the mac counter.

@learieonthewildmoor thanks, will remember these brand recommendations, although my issue is more specific colours that will work with my colouring.

I don’t feel game to recommend actual shades. It’s hard without seeing your skin.
I prefer blue reds, but maybe orange reds are better on you, or you prefer them. It’s very personal.

@learieonthewildmoor

Well she did mention cool toned skin which is why I thought blue toned pinks and reds would suit

Orangey reds are not for cool toned skin (though far be it for me to dictate )but I know I am the opposite and warm yellow reds, orangey reds , corals and warm pinks suit me. I can get away with a slightly bluey red as long as it is not burgundy. I look like shit in that. Drains me of colour and ages me.

I am terrible with lipstick colours and had also got into a massive rut colour wise. I recently bought 15 shades of lipstick for about £15 (I guess the quality may not be great). One of the boxes was free (buy 2 get one free offer at the time) - from Revolution which someone on here recommended. Anyway they are so cheap that I'm happily trying them out. I am making myself try a colour several times before i discard. This has been so useful.
