I've got very dark hair and I've bleached a 'Money piece' section (think geri hail well in the 90s).

It looks horrific!
I don't want to dye it back to my original colour as the rest of my hair has an expensive balayage.
But I'm too skint to get it done at the hairdressers, anyone recommend something I can do?

You need to post a picture

Yes you need to post a picture. If you have just lifted the colour out with a lightener/bleach, it will simply be a lighter version of your 'natural'? Colour. This will often look yellow or orange toned. You'll likely need to deposit a toner onto the lightened area to colour correct (ie, a specific toner shade from eg, redken or L'Oréal professional) and the correct level of developer (usually 6vol - all available on Amazon).

If you can - post a pic. You mentioned that the rest of the hair has an expensive colour? Presumably done by a salon? Can't you go back and confess your attempt at lightening the front? It certainly won't be the first time they've seen something like this and may offer to tone for a minimum
Charge?

Thanks all, I can't go back to the salon - I'm too embarrassed because I did ask for them to do this to me!

I've tried loading a photo but for some reason it's uploading a random photo from my photo stream from 2020 (not of me)

Sorry - the hairdressers did it at the salon, I really encouraged them to bleach it as much as possible, and so i can't feel i can go back there and ask them to put it right....as its entirely my fault!

You'll need to "fill" the colour in with a red before you put on the colour of your own hair or it will more than likely go ditch water green.

Superdrug do or did I haven't checked in a while, a good strong red/copper in their 6 wash dyes. This should be good enough.

Do this first, then cover with your natural colour- though if you haven't dyed the rest of your hair this could be tricky to match.

Also you're probably going to have to keep doing this until the money pieces grow out.

Don't use a semi perm or permanent on them as there's too much bleach used there already and they could snap off, especially in box colour as they tend to use v high volume developer. That's why I'm suggesting a 6 wash dye as it has no developer and won't cause any more damage.

@NadjaCravensworth - thanks for your assistance as the thread stasi!

Thanks to everyone else, I'm annoyed I can't post a picture, I've been in MN for 15 years and I know how to do it, but maybe my phones too old and not updating correctly?

I'm off to Superdrug in the morning, armed with your suggestions....wish me luck!
