Press on nails - any tips? (Pardon the rubbish pun!)

Our of the blue I have two Christmas dos coming up. My natural nails are a bit crap at the moment and I don't want the faff or expense of getting extensions/ gels etc done because I can't be arsed with the expense/ upkeep/ removal etc.

I think press on nails would be my best bet, but I know nothing about them having only ever used a Halloween set from Claire's once many years ago. Most of which popped off by 10pm (including one that ended up in someone else's drink. Oops)

Are they any brands to look for or avoid? Ditto glues or sticky pad things? I'm game for serious bling but nothing too long and also (v important point) I have HUGE hands and nail beds and I worry that even the biggest sizes will have side gaps.

I love primark ones. I've never had any issues with them coming off

Thanks Doublechins, i was in the massive one in Birmingham yesterday and couldn't find any that excited me. That said, I do have an unused box of their unicorn nails which might do. Can I ask, do you use the glue that comes in the box?

Yeah I just use the glue that comes with them

Elegant touch are pretty good and look nice. Some pinged off and had to be glued back on but most stayed on for a few days. I am stuck with glue covered nails a few weeks later though.

I wouldn’t bother, they are crap, always ping off and by the end of the night.. I would just file into a nice shape then paint then op

Sorry posted too soon haha was going to say then apply some nice polish 😂

I paint the glue onto my nails and then hold the nail down for a good 30 seconds

Also the nails are usually too long for my liking so I will file and cut them into a half decent length before I put them on.

They last great if you aren't cleaning, typing manically, gardening etc.

Always carry glue and spares.
