For my son. (who said slippers for wfh, but that normal slippers often make his feet sweat)
I found some I thought would be suitable but my daughter said that they were a bit old mannish.
They were these.
I'd love any recommendations!

Homeys are great...

Crocs do slippers now

Rollerbird · 30/11/2022 08:19

Thanks.
Does anyone have any more suggestions for suitable slippers that look good too?

Giesswein do nice wool ones (which are supposed to not make feet sweat as they’re a natural fibre). I’ve not looked at the men’s range but I wear the women’s ones. They’re not cheap but they’re good.

Or there’s Celtic sheepskin, again ££ though.

I guess just avoid anything made of synthetic “cosy” fleece, because it’s the plasticky-ness/unbreathability that leads to sweating, right?

Mahabis are pretty trendy but ridiculously expensive.

Afterfire · 30/11/2022 08:29

asos North face ones if you can afford it…

Or these, cheaper -

That sort of style is more fashionable.

Afterfire · 30/11/2022 08:29

They might be sweaty though!

fluffiphlox · 30/11/2022 08:30

I buy slippers from an Estonian company called Toku. Boiled wool type. Really comfy and non-sweaty.

Catslovepies · 30/11/2022 08:30

The North face ones - they're like a sleeping bag material and definitely not old mannish. Very expensive, though. One example: www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en-gb/tnf-gb/mens-nse-iii-tent-mules-awmg

Crabwoman · 30/11/2022 08:35

North face ones.

Mahabis link here

Even before WFH was a thing, DH's colleagues all kept a pair of Glerups felt house shoes under their desks.

They aren't cheap, but they are cosy.

I agree . Haflinger wool clogs are good too. shoe garden.co.uk have a great selection of slippers. I think wool felt ones might be the thing for him as they are breathable and not too hot, look cool, and work all year round.

ItsTrueLou · 30/11/2022 09:26

birkenstocks

JofraArchersFastestBall · 30/11/2022 09:30

Gumbies. My husband and I live in ours. Hard wearing (got them last year, still good as new), warm and happily bung in the washing machine.

I like the slip on kind, but they also do boots

MrsHGWells · 30/11/2022 09:30

John Lewis sheepskin wool suede clog - pure wool does not sweat.. just toasty warm.. my son vowed never to wear slippers.. never takes them off ..

Porridgeislife · 30/11/2022 09:32

Second Haflingers. I have the felt ones and wear them non stop all year around. They’re also good for your feet as they have a shaped cork sole.

catfunk · 30/11/2022 11:37

Would help to know what his general style is op. Both crocs and birks are very fashionable but in different groups. Those padded ones upthread are also a very specific style! Maybe let him choose?

CointreauVersial · 30/11/2022 13:36

Costco!

I bought DH these gorgeous sheepskin ones a couple of weeks ago - they were such a bargain.

MrsDeWinter · 30/11/2022 15:37

I like birkinstocks but I don't have sweaty feet.
DH who sometimes does AND is an absolute horrorshow for just breaking down shoes, clothes etc likes Bearpaw, he's on his 2nd pair and the 1st lasted him 8 years worn daily.

Bedroom athletics are good

greenhousegal · 30/11/2022 21:12

Following with interest, as I (adult human female) wear men's slippers for the sturdiness and the sole (when putting the bins out in the dark lol). I find women's slippers are often impractical, mostly backless, and my feet slide out of them.

Anyway, my current ones were a tenner in the men's dept. Primark last year, thermal and cushioned and still going strong. The same ones are not there this year, sad face...

lenalove · 01/12/2022 16:44

Uniqlo!

kerstina · 01/12/2022 18:31

Ugg Tasman or similar sheepskin . Worth every penny
