Is Jones Road miracle balm any good?

Always looking for quick and easy ways to add a touch of make up without the effort.
I keep seeing ads for this. I like the concept, but it is expensive for what looks like coloured Vaseline and the web reviews are mixed.
Anyone tried it?

I've not personally tried it but was talking to a friend about it the other day who bought into the hype and her review was pretty damning - she explained it as like putting a vaguely shimmery vaseline on your face. Apparently there is next to no colour payoff and she also said it smelled odd - so that's a no from me.

To be honest it wouldn't be something I'd tend to go for anyway. I think these kinds of things are only ever going to work on those that already have a perfect, or close to perfect complexion in the first place. Beauty editors seem to endlessly love these kinds of 'everything balm' type products that models can dab on eyes/lips/cheek and crack on with the day looking wonderful (because they already did).

If you want something that gives a bit of glow/colour I really rate Decleor Creme Ambree. It's slightly alarming in the pot but blends onto your skin really well. A friend assumed I'd been on holiday the other day

I liked the idea and considered purchasing, but there are some pretty poor reviews, similar to pp's friend.

Going against the grain, I absolutely love it and have it in most shades - it’s probably the most important product in my make-up bag. My motivation to start using it was that it looked really low effort, and it is. Depending on the shade, I use it for a bit of glow, blush, highlighter, eye-shadow and lip tint.

One thing I would say is that it seems a lot of people mis-use the product – check on the JR Instagram feed how to use it properly as it makes a massive difference to the depth of colour it can give.

I have it and like it, but not sure it's really worth the price, although you do get a large pot, so maybe it is.

I tend to use Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick more.

I have samples of sun kissed and flushed. I must say I am impressed. Can you elaborate on what colours you have and the tone of colour. Would like to try dusty rose, golden hour and a couple more

@Chipstick10
Dusty Rose is a bit more mauvey than Flushed, which is more pink. Sunkissed has a slight red undertone compared to Bronze which is tawny brown. Tawny has the brown hue but also a slight purple-ish tone (it's my least favourite and the only one that doesn't work on me). Golden Hour is a yellow-y kind of highlight, whereas Magic Hour is a bit deeper with more sparkle. There is a new colour in one in one of the sets (therefore only in travel size at the moment) - Miami-something - which is a lovely orangey-coral. I hope that's available in the large size soon.

I am light skinned with neutral/yellow undertone and mostly use a combination of Sunkissed, Golden Hour and Flushed on a daily basis. I do have the others - I got Dusty Rose first but tend not to use it much these days as the other colours suit me better. Bronze I keep for the summer. There is quite a bit of sparkle in Magic Hour so I only use that if I am going out in the evening.

What's with all the Jones Road threads this morning? Is their PR firm working overtime? There are five threads!

It's the same eBay seller spamming all the threads asking people to message her to sell privately. Until this morning she hadn't posted on MN since 2013. She's been very busy this morning.

I use the Revolution version and like it.

Actually I like Revolution skincare in general (miracle eye cream works for my ancient eyes).

But it is like a sticky vaseline. I think it hives a nice natural glow but I would be 50:50 about whether to ditch my powder blush in favour of only this stuff.

Tl:dr- nice but not a miracle and not worth spending too much on

DirtyBlonde · 02/03/2024 11:28

I got the Revolution dupe - I don't really like it - feels too sticky and leaves me too shiny

StoneTheCrone · 04/03/2024 14:13

Thanks @Housewife2010 I did wonder about the mention of Ebay upthread.
