Kate Spade Bag: Oxblood or Black?

I'm looking to go back to uni next year for a professional master's degree and have been looking for a backpack (any excuse for a new bag really!)
I've found this Kate Spade backpack which is a steal with the extra money off but I can't decide which colour to get.
My heart is telling me the oxblood colour, but I can't help thinking the black is more practical.

Which do you prefer?

The oxblood colour is called cherrywood!

agree I would go with the gingerbread one

Buy the ox blood, black is boring, and the ox blood is lovely and rich. Buy leather protector and polish before you buy. Buy oxblood leather polish and if you create a scratch or scuff, buff it out with coloured polish, let dry then layer with leather protector the next day.

I normally love Oxblood, but I'd say that is more burgundy.

Gingerbread for me too but it's very expensive. I'm sure you could get a cheaper bag that's better value, or is this a designer bag?

Also team gingerbread ! Love a tan bag. However, if you like ox blood best, buy that. I have realised when spending lots of money and being between the “sensible” choice and the “heart” choice - you rarely regret the heart one but always have a bit of a pang of regret if you go sensible.

Thank you everyone! Hadn't even considered Gingerbread so it's definitely between those two now. Get what you mean about it not being an oxblood and more burgundy so that might sway it...
With the voucher code and cash back, it gets to about £140 which definitely isn't cheap but I haven't seen any other leather backpacks I like for any cheaper. Definitely open to suggestions if anyone has seen any though!

Went to Kate Spade today, feeling inspired by this thread, and I now have the most beautiful Christmas present coming my way courtesy of my lovely husband 🙂

I donj't like the cherry wood one - looks a bit dull to me. I rarely like brown bags but this one looks very nice so either the Gingerbread or black.

Are you sure you’ll be able to get laptop, A4 papers in though? As it won’t be much use for a Masters if you can’t. This looks too small but I haven’t checked measurements.

Will you need to carry a laptop? Make sure it fits as it wouldn't fit mine, I don't think.
