Has anyone used a personal stylist?

Just wondering if anyone here has used a personal stylist? After lockdowns, pregnancy and now in post partum I just don’t know what suits me anymore and every shopping trip is unsuccessful. I’m fed up of having nothing to wear.

I know John Lewis have their styling service but I don’t like that you’re obviously limited to just what’s in their store. I’ve found someone local (North East) who charges £150 for a full day but wanted to get opinions on whether it’s worth it.

good experience

Yes I have. It was amazing and worth every penny. Still use her tips now when shopping.

HouseyHouse21 · 24/11/2022 07:23

Yes, was definitely worth it for me. That sounds like good value too.

DH and I have both used the free John Lewis service (different stylists). It's very good.

Mine gave me lots of things from the sale rack too. They're not just pushing the pricey pieces although it's very easy to spend lots.

I really like the stylist I see at John Lewis. She is great at getting me to try new things, patient when I'm fussy and indecisive, and not pushy at all.

Even if you eventually go and see an independent stylist, you'll have some ideas and knowledge from the JL one!

Great, thanks everyone! I suppose going to the John Lewis one can’t hurt and I’ll get some ideas of what works for me.

I had my colours done professionally which was very helpful. I also joined the online style group Styled by Susie. I've learned lots about what suits me.

I have, and found it extremely useful.

Thanks all. I used the John Lewis stylist service on Sunday. It was okay and I did buy some pieces. However, I do think I’d benefit from having my colours done and shape analysed properly but I’ve got more of an idea of what suits me and some actual clothes to wear so that’s good!

Hi @Andrelax3 did you ever go ahead with the stylist? I’m also trying to dress a changed body postpartum and at a loss of where to start. I’m also in NE so keen to hear how you got on!

Andrelax3 · 04/01/2023 18:14

Hi @MSJK I used the John Lewis service which was okay but I actually returned most of the things I bought. The independent person I’ve been looking at is on Instagram @ styledbybellas I think I will book in with her at some point but really want to lose a bit of weight first.
