What winter coats is everyone wearing?

I just bought one from Next but I think it looks a bit frumpy - longline black padded with furry hood. What are you wearing for winter?

I have a similar one from- whispers- Regatta! It is not stylish or beautiful but is warm, light and waterproof. Am at that age where I prefer practicality over style. I actually think brands like Trespass and Regatta outperform the high street on that.

Longline dark green woollen coat. I've tried the big duvet coats but they look terrible on me.

Niftythrifter · 23/11/2022 07:27

I have a Didrikson parka in a kids size that fits like a glove and keeps me warm and is waterproof. I bought it from a charity shop for not much over a tenner so it’s going to be my winter coat.

MingeofDeath · 23/11/2022 07:28

I'm wearing my trusty padded Barbour which I've had for 15 years. Looks like new after being relaxed.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 23/11/2022 07:28

Didrikson, so warm and waterproof.

Hooverphobe · 23/11/2022 07:28

I’ve got about 6 beautiful assorted stylish coats in the wardrobe I can’t fit in to. 😳

so day-to-day I wear a cotton traders fleece-lines waterproof green Mac.

am also too old to want to catch the eye of admiring strangers - and will opt for fry and warm every time.

A Swedish parka that I bought in TK Maxx, warm, dry and cosy. I live on the west coast of Scotland, it’s always function over fashion when it comes to winter coats here 💦💨

sarge89 · 23/11/2022 07:36

I love my Joules Cherington. Not bulky but warm and showerproof ♥️

Unbridezilla · 23/11/2022 07:44

Also trusty Barboyr wax jacket here, it's a parka cut with fur trimmed hood. It seems great autumn - spring, doesn't get too hot at the beginning/ end but warm enough to wear in the depths of the cold

CowPie · 23/11/2022 07:47

This one. Though I also have an ancient, ankle-length waxed coat for very wet days.

A longline khaki puffer. It's showerproof and so warm, feels like I'm wearing a duvet.

KarmaLlamaagain · 23/11/2022 08:10

Regatta heated puffer thing! Looks terrible on, I feel like a big blue blob… but it works… and my New Years resolution last year was to not buy any cloths all year so I’m stuck looking like a big blue slug like thing for a while longer! It is very warm though, and I like the heating element.

MingeofDeath · 23/11/2022 08:13

My Barbour has been rewaxed not relaxed

eveoha · 23/11/2022 08:24

I think we will all need to be ‘re waxed’ due to this incessant rain ☔️ 👍🏿☘️🙄it’s so bloody wet dank and dismal

LookItsMeAgain · 23/11/2022 08:58

I need to get something that is going to cover my bum during the colder winter months. I generally wear jackets but I was thinking of getting a coat/longer jacket that would work.

If you had the choice between the red one or the black one which would you choose?

Red one

Black one

They are both on special offer right now so I'm just so confused!! I like both but can only afford one.

BamBamBilla · 23/11/2022 09:01

Red wool duffle if its dry or black Didriksons parka if its wet.

MissMarpleRocks · 23/11/2022 09:02

I can’t fit into anything from the last couple of years so have just ordered a couple of smart coats. Need to get round to looking for a decent dog walking one as well.

SlowMotionLovePotion · 23/11/2022 09:07

@LookItsMeAgain I like the style of the red one but in the black option - sorry that's probably not very helpful! 🙈
