Fashionable trainers for DD aged 13

Thecatisboss · 21/11/2022 20:57

Dd has said she wants fashionable clothes and especially trainers for Christmas and her birthday which is very close to Christmas. I unfortunately haven't a clue about fashion and trainers (or clothes even!) as I just wear trail running trainers all the time.

Could anyone please help as to what brands are acceptable or any styles? Thanks!

For a 13 year old, I would suggest converse, vans, nike air force.

Duvetdweller · 21/11/2022 21:02

I would suggest Nike air force too

Hesleepswiththefishes · 21/11/2022 21:04

Has to be Air Force or Jordan’s
vans
if she’s above a size 6 the Nikes are expensive 😭

RowanAtkinsonsRubberyFace · 21/11/2022 21:06

It's all about Nike Air Force for my teen girls. They like the sporty style of dress too, cropped puffa jackets and massive joggers or leggings. Sometimes baggy jeans. Very much what I was wearing in the 90s. But to avoid getting it horribly wrong I think you need your DD to show you examples of what she likes.

34and3 · 21/11/2022 21:07

Air forces. My daughter wants another pair in a different colour for Xmas. Thankfully she's a size 5 so kids prices!!

Moonshine74 · 21/11/2022 21:11

Another vote for air forces. Just the plain white for mine, they are surgically attached to her feet!

poorbuthappy · 21/11/2022 21:17

Nike blazers. High top with the different colour tick. Nike are doing 25% off on the app at the mo

Thecatisboss · 21/11/2022 21:20

Thank you everyone! I have some ideas to show her now which is brilliant.

She's a size 4 feet at the moment and about 5ft tall so just starting to borrow my clothes (well my nice running jackets etc!)

My DD13 likes converse, air forces and she's asked for Nike air Jordans for Xmas (in a colour which appears to have been discontinued Confused)

Think you have nice trainer ideas. My DD loves her Nike pro leggings and also she has recently loved Stradivarius cargo trousers.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 27/11/2022 19:54

My DD is wearing MY Nike Air forces!
i would also agree with Dunks and Blazers.

all her friends wear those and yes to Nike pro leggings and shorts.

she’s the same age so I will also follow for ideas!

Silverstreaks · 27/11/2022 22:40

I'd echo @RowanAtkinsonsRubberyFace , get you daughter to show you what she likes. She could list a number of things and you choose some. That way she gets what she really likes but its a surprise too.
My DD is wearing Converse High Tops.

Ooh my daughter has asked for cargo pants for Christmas. I’ll check out Stradivarius. Don’t suppose you could link to your daughters ones?

Potato28 · 27/11/2022 22:49

Shes 13. Does she not have ‘Ideas’ of her own?
Rather than you showing her ideas of ‘fashionable’ things?

FannyFifer · 27/11/2022 22:54

DD and her friends pretty much wear all the same stuff.
Nike pro leggings, air force, converse high tops, crop tops, puffa jackets or gilets, pretty little thing baggy hoodies or t-shirts.

allboysherebutme · 27/11/2022 23:02

New balance 327. X

They fit really nicely and aren’t too thin.

JoeMaplin · 28/11/2022 07:31

My daughters - 16 and 19 wear Air Force 1s still although the younger one is getting platform converse for Christmas. They both wear platform dms too.

No. Sometimes you’re not sure of what’s in fashion and what’s ‘right’ no matter what age you are. I’ve definitely asked friends with older girls what’s the ‘in’ thing.

It’s hard to be 13 and know you want to fit in but not quite sure how to. I remember being that 13 year old and if I can help I will.

Fab. Thank you!

Merlott · 28/11/2022 08:11

Let her show you pictures of what she wants! If too pricey get dupes from asos, plt, shein etc.

MrsMitford3 · 28/11/2022 08:19

Def worth showing her some ideas-my DD-although slightly older now-is all about the customised converse and the nikes etc are not her personal style.

Maybe go on pinterest and have a look at some "looks" and see what feels right-ppl are talking about some very different styles here-she needs to find what she likes

Mandyjack · 05/12/2022 19:27

New Balance trainers are very fashionable at the moment. You could also go to somewhere like JD & ask what's popular with teenagers. Social media is another place to see what's popular.
Have you asked her if she has some in mind? She's at that age where she wants to keep up with what her friends and peers are wearing.
Maybe get her to write a wish list and send you some links via WhatsApp if she uses a smartphone
