I'm 5ft and a size 14/16, did have some 7 jeans before baby and they were fab but I cant fit in them just yet!

Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced alternatives?

Oh I hope someone knows, I go into shops see rails of denim and the thought of getting my dimpled thighs out in the changing rooms only to find I cant do any of them up is just too depressing...

This weeks grazia has an article about body shapes and jeans. And I quote "Curvy girls rejoice - super hot flared styles are made for you! The wide kick balances the hips and creates an enviable hour-glass silhouette."

Personally I go for M&S Bootcut short fitting with a bit of stretch in the denim. No hemming needed, Perfick. Am size bigger-than-that-but-not-saying a 5ft2.

I second the M & S bootcut jobbies though I buy standard length as I find the short shrink and then go just a bit ANNOYINGLY short, and I'm 5'2. I think these are very flattering and though M&S may not be the coolest designer name out there they are comfortable and they fit!

dp have nice ones

go for dark ones, always look for ones with 2 % elastane in them

I find the M&S ones a bit "boxy" - ie: they are too wide all the way down for me (am 5, 2 and size 12). I like Gap long and leans in ankle fit; but needed to try on loads before I found a pair that fitted properly as their sizes seem to be totally random.

M&S for me too. and I'm 5'2" & size 12/14
The ones with stretch. They have some quite cheap ones too (£12.50) so can experiemnt a bit and see what style you really like and it doesn't matter if they don't work out. (But so far they've all been comfortable and reasonably flattering.)

I have been surprised how much I love my Principles Petite ones. My old faithfuls (Levi 501s) don't quite fit yet even though the twins are nearly 6 months old and I bought the principles ones (size 16) as a stop-gap - a great buy seeing as they were pretty cheap and I like them so much i wear them day in day out (v comfy too).
