Have they sprayed these shoes gold? (Pics)

Have just received these gold Stradivarius heels via ASOS and they are neon PINK underneath the gold! WTF?? Does anyone know if this is normal practice? Are they a surplus pink shoe from the summer that have been sprayed gold in the factory? I've never come across anything like this before! How odd. I have the black pair and quite like them, so thought I would get them in gold for the holidays. Needless to say they're going back! I'm worried the gold will rub off and I'll be left with 2 tone heels! Confused

I think your guess about what’s happened is probably correct. I’ve got no idea how often it happens, but it doesn’t scream quality does it? Not surprised you are sending them back!

that is odd but with the way you hear about returns just being thrown away rather than resold, and all the other fast fashion nightmares, I would have thought that it would be too much effort to send shoes back to the factory to get re sprayed just because they had some surplus stock. I’d have thought they’d just sell then really cheap or get rid. But I’m only guessing

Oh my goodness! I had no idea they actually came in hot pink! It was just a guess, but yes - those are the same shoes.

And I did think about would the things I hear about returns being thrown away and not resold and the other things the PP said which made me wonder why / if a company would do this. My only thought is that the factory where they're made in China made too many components for the hot pink shoes, and have sprayed them gold and likely not even told the brand. The heel sole bit on the gold ones is beige, whereas it's pink on the ones above. This definitely would be too much of a PITA to take apart change over from pink to beige to work with the gold shoe and definitely isn't sprayed. So I can only assume they sprayed the individual pink parts of the show gold before they were put together to make the gold shoes. Here is another part where the gold paint has chipped off the front - I actually noticed this first.

And yes, I hold my hand up that they are not the greatest quality shoes but I wasn't sure if I would want a high platform in the summer when I bought the black ones, but they're actually very comfortable and robust so I figured I'd buy the gold ones as well. Confused
