IPL Hair Removal Device Safe or Not

I have been thinking about getting an IPL hair removal device for a while. There are a lot of good offers for black Friday so I’m tempted to get one. From what I have seen online they seem to be safe and work well at preventing and slowing down hair growth.

But I have also seen stuff about them burning people and leaving scars. Has anyone used one before? Do they work well? Are they safe? Will I end up with burns up and down my legs? For context I have pale sensitive skin and dark hair.

I have never known anyone get burnt by an IPL device! Search Lumea on here, there are several threads raving about them, they really are a game changer!

I have an IPL, and have used it about 4 times over 2 months. Great results so far. Medium brown hair, fair skin.

my IPL has 5 different settings. I downloaded the app and it talks you through doing something similar to a patch test like you’d do at the hairdressers. You do one flash at level 1, one at level 2, one at 3, 4, 5. You wait 24 hours and see if you have a reaction. I’d say I have quite sensitive skin and use it at the highest level (5) no problem. Nothing remotely near a burn at all.
