Rapid Lash - be careful!

I was using Rapid Last for a couple of months and applied at night before bed as it advises. What I have now realised is that there's hair growing under my eyes and, as I have dark hair, it's quite noticeable. What must have happened is that the serum has soaked into the skin below my eyes whilst I slept. I had wondered why I was getting hair growth there when I've never had hair there before but, of course, our skin has hair follicles everywhere even if not visible.

It has also caused dark circles under my eyes. I thought the discoloration was lack of sleep and a poor diet of late but I've never had "panda" eyes before even with less sleep and a worse diet. It all coincides with using Rapid Lash.

Suffice to say, I have binned Rapid Lash. It isn't worth it.

Now how to get rid of my furry, panda eyes. I wish I had known that this could have happened.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Some eyelash serums can change the colour of your eyes as well I've heard

I've heard this too.

Yea I heard this too, it’s why I changed to caster oil… Who knows what all those chemicals can do, especially so close to your eyes, kind of crazy it can actually change your eye colour… Like can you imagine 😱

I’ve always used vaseline on my eyelashes, eyebrows and fingernails (five decades and more). Eyelashes and eyebrows are full and nails are strong and supple.

determinedtomakethiswork · 22/11/2022 17:50

So is it good on eyebrows?

Cluckycluck · 22/11/2022 17:57

I thought in UK the serums weren't allowed to contain prostoglandin and thus don't carry the same side effects such as iris colour change like the serums from USA do.

I've used Rapidlash for years now with no side effects at all.

I was thinking it might be great stuff for those with thinning hair on their heads though.

Especially if you have a little patch or two.

Just a thought.

It discolors your skin though, making it darker, you would end up looking like you have a dirty scalp.

I had exactly the same issue (hair growth under my eyes/top of my cheekbones) from using RapidBrow.

I thought I was imagining it, but my hairdresser had exactly the same thing.

RedAngel19 · 22/11/2022 21:10

@BIWI sorry to hear that. There really ought to be a caution in the instructions! I hope the hair has now gone. I'm glad I cottoned on and stopped using it.

Thanks for the reply, @VisitingThem. I hope the pressures stay low and your vision stays good.

I have started using caster oil instead of lash serum, I like that it’s natural and my lashes seem glossier and thicker

which type of caster oil? Jamaican / cold pressed etc..

I use this one from Amazon, it comes with an eyelash and eyebrow applicator brushes too and 2 little containers.

I’ve used its sister product Rapid Brow and yes it works. Takes a while and the tube runs out fast but it works.

dolor · 24/11/2022 19:53

Lash serums are mostly a massive scam anyway.

The main ingredient is usually castor oil, which you can buy considerably cheaper on Amazon etc. Serums that are full of other chemicals run the risk of messing about with your skin colour, and can irritate your eyes and skin badly.

Castor oil will help keep your hair healthy, but it won't magically give you think lashes or brows.

Also they ALWAYS use models who already have thick lashes and brows to advertise them, it really boils me piss.

Same with lip plumpers. Ooooo let's look at this model with already plump lips, make her lips look she got stung by several angry wasps.

🙄

BIWI · 24/11/2022 20:11

I have to say, though, the RapidBrow really did work. I ended up buying three tubes, but there was significant growth and my eyebrows really did thicken up.

OddBoots · 24/11/2022 20:20

My mum used this kind of lash growing stuff thing after seeing how thick my dad's eye lashes got from his glaucoma drops but after a year her vision went bad and was found to have developed macular holes in both eyes, she had to have surgery in both eyes but it was of limited help and she is now registered visually impaired. It could be entirely unrelated but to get a macular hole in one eye is unusual and to get in both is really surprising so it has put me off risking it.

OMG that’s terrible, your poor mum 😱

I knew the ingredient in that sort of eyelash serum can change your eye colour so it doesn’t surprise me it can cause permanent damage to your eyes too…

I’m definitely going to stick to the caster oil, and to be fair I have seen good results from it, my eyelashes are definitely thicker and longer than normal. I haven’t used it on eyebrows so can’t comment on that but I presume it would work in the same way 🤔
