Where to find plus size wedding dresses?

Hi all,
Last week my DP of 4 years popped the question and I'm super excited. However, the dread is now setting in about the prospect of having to try on wedding dresses as a plus sized woman. I will do my best to lose weight before the big day, which will hopefully be in a year, but at the moment I have to accept I'm a size 24 and this will limit my choices. Does anyone know of anywhere in England where I can spend a morning looking at plus sized dresses without feeling like shit/freakish? Any advice would be much appreciated!

If you have a Wed2B in your area I recommend them. They're significantly lower priced than some boutiques and I think go up to size 30. I got my dress from there when I was a size 22/24 and I wore the same size - I think wedding dresses are traditionally two sizes smaller than they should be but W2B was reasonably sized.

I believe there’s quite a few plus-size wedding boutiques out there now! If you give it a Google, I’m sure there will be at least one or two in your religion. I have one fairly close to me called ‘celebrating plus-size bridal’.

If unsure, just give each nearby shop a call and ask what sizes they stock and how many dresses they have in a standard X size (bridal gowns aren’t normal dress size). At least then it won’t be a wasted or disappointing trip if they only have one or two in stock.

I was a plus sized bride and got my dress from Wed2Be - they had a great choice available in plus sizes.

I got mine from Beautiful Brides in Liverpool, they only do plus-size dresses, the owner is really nice and they had a great selection!
