Clinique take the day off balm

I keep hearing good things about this but it seems so expensive for a cleanser. I am tempted as I have very sensitive dry skin but does it last a long time and is it worth the cost?

I use this one from Up Circle as it is non drying on my skin. Can be on sale in sainsburys from time to time.

Just buy it and give it a go.

Whatever you do, don't go down your usual route of hand wringing over the cost and Clinique Vs No7!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 16/11/2022 22:54

I guess it's all relative but I found it lasted ages, feels nice on and gets my eye makeup off without too much effort.

Shmithecat2 · 16/11/2022 22:57

A little goes a long way, so cost per use is actually quite low.

If you'd consider an oil rather than a balm, Superfacialist Vit C cleansing oil is lovely and only £8 at the moment. Smells divine, cleanses well, lasts forever.

I have awful dry skin and this stuff is super soothing!
Lots of deals on their website atm

I agree - I use it every evening and I've had my jar for ages. Worth every penny, plus Clinique usually have a pretty good Black Friday offer on if you can hang fire for a week or so.

TankFlyBoss · 16/11/2022 23:04

@Shmithecat2 where have you found that super facialist oil for £8 please? Thank you.

SisterAgatha · 16/11/2022 23:07

I had a sample and loved it. Very sad when it ran out. Got it at Xmas in my calendar and it ran out maybe 3 months ago so long lasting.

Boots and Amazon right now!

Thank you so much @Shmithecat2

It feels amazing, I got it last Christmas and will be buying it again I think. I like to mix up my products at certain times of the year when my skin needs a change of treatment. It is long lasting though

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 16/11/2022 23:13

My favourite cleanser. I buy the 200ml tub when it's on special and it last me over three months.

The Superfacialist oil cleanser makes my eyes itch. Think it's the fragrance.

thisuser · 16/11/2022 23:20

i love mine! its my go to cleanser everyday. takes my makeup off very nicely, it feels luxurious, non-greasy, no residue. just perfect. worth every penny! would defo defo recommend

Is this sarcasm may I ask?

I've tried pretty much every balm and cleansing oil and nothing is as good value as the Simple cleansing oil. I wear waterproof mac foundation and waterproof eye make up and it removes it all without any rubbing or drying out. Best yet is you can just wash it off with water, no need for a cloth. I always think it such a faff/waste to have to use fresh cloths and clean them each time to just wash your face.

The Clinique balm is just ok. Nothing special that other balms won't give you and not worth the price in my opinion.

alwayscheery · 17/11/2022 00:45

I found the Clinique one very comparable to the body shop camomile balm.
I don't enjoy using the Clinique one at all the slightest bit near my eyes left me unable to see for a couple of minutes.
I buy the Emma Hardie 200ml tub from M and S when I have a 20 % off code. It last all year and it is fabulous, smells divine.

Littleguggi · 17/11/2022 06:50

It lasts forever honestly, you only need a pea sized amount and it's very gentle, doesn't hurt my eyes.

Passmeaplacard · 17/11/2022 06:58

You can often pick up the small sizes cheap on eBay as they give it as a GWP. Elemis is better in my opinion.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 17/11/2022 07:00

I find it clumps/lumpy. If you’re worried about the cost too, the Body Shop Chamomile one is better on both counts.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 17/11/2022 07:02

I have the body shop one too
i think it was £12 lasts ages and I can’t really tell the difference to the Clinique one

Reservoirbogs · 17/11/2022 07:07

Honesty, all these balms have pretty much the same ingredients. It's actually very easy to make your own! Beeswax, an oil (coconut /jojoba etc) and some essential oil. I add pure vit E oil too.
If that's too much faff, super drug do a decent one for £10.

Thanks for this! I also wear Mac mascaras (the best imo) and struggle to get a good remover. Temple Spa is good but pricey. I’ll try the Simple oil
