Another Christmas party outfit one!

Meal, drinks and disco in a nice hotel. Lots of people are pushing the boat out after having no Christmas do for a couple of years. I’m really struggling after ordering a few dresses/play suits that just haven’t looked ‘right’, and I’m sick of searching now 😂

I’m a size 10-12 and 5’4. I’d happily consider any outfit really - dress, skirt and top, trousers and top, or a jumpsuit. Happy to spend up to £150-200 for something nice that I could wear again. Definitely more of a ‘party’ vibe than black tie.

I don’t want: padded shoulders, thin shoulder straps, anything too restrictive (like tight fitting midi dresses), or maxi dresses (they always swamp me).

Thanks in advance for any ideas! I never thought I’d struggle so much to find something.

I’m sane size as you but a few years (…10) older, and I’d go for a long sleeved wrap mini dress - either in a vibrant colour or a velvet or sequin.

or a mini skirt, cami and blazer with heels or heeled boots.

Sequinned midi skirt and a cashmere sweater. Comfy, sparkly, practical, rewearable.

Actually having seen the disco, maybe not cashmere jumper - just a plainish draped satin top.

I’ve been eyeing up this dress which I really wanted in the emerald green colour but it’s sold out! I might try the black but I think I’d need to dress it up with more sparkly stuff.

Thanks! I don’t mind the black skirt but worry that something in this style might be a bit aging on me? I love midi skirts but for some reason I always feel like the midi silhouette just makes me look older.

I did try a sequin midi skirt that was much more fitted, but I love a dance and I think I’d just feel too restricted.

Have you looked in Superdry? It’s not where I’d first think of party outfits but i keep getting adverts on Instagram for them. Most are strapped but they have some long sleeved sparkly ones too

I have a couple from DSLB, new look (weirdly as not somewhere I ever shop) and have a nice blue one in a slinky fabric from boohoo…I’ll try to find some pics/links

i love the sequin midi look but also doesn’t suit me and makes me feel middle aged (even tho I am!)…I think it cos I’m curvy with boobs!

Omg funnily enough I have! I ordered a pink velvet dress from them but it kept riding up.

I have seen a couple of others on there that I like the look of so I might keep them in mind if I don’t find anything else.

I was surprised too as I didn’t think they did that sort of stuff!
