Curling cashmere scarf?? How to stop it

I've got a beautiful and very warm cashmere scarf but it's curling in along the edges so it's starting to hang like a sausage around my neck Grin

I'm terrible at ruining anything naice I ever get so before I try to iron it etc how should I approach???

Hmm, I tend to think this is a poor design, as fabric knit the way I assume this is will always curl at the edges, it's the nature of the stitches.

If I had actually knit this, I would block it using wires but I'm not suggesting you do anything quite so radical! What I think I would do in this case is soak it, then lay it on a towel and roll the towel up, then walk up and down on the towel to get rid of the excess water. Then I would put it between two towels and either leave it to dry or iron dry through the towel.

But I think this will keep happening. Hopefully S&Bers with more experience of commercial cashmere will have some good ideas. My next thought was to crochet a stabilising chain along the edge but you may not want to start sabotaging your expensive item with handcrafts!

Thank you - well that's annoying!

It's John Lewis and expensive so you'd hope they'd have avoided basic design errors but I'll try what you suggest thank you Smile

That's interesting, is it this one? If so, I do think that is going to end up being very curly, it may be that if you hang it up on a coat hanger and pull it flat when not in use it will stay reasonable for when you're out and about, but I would be tempted to see if you can return it to John Lewis (before doing any complicated soak-and-towel stuff).

Actually I've looked at that one again and it looks as if it has an edge treatment on it that you can see on the reverse, which should be stopping it from curling as much. Has yours got something like that?
