Is it ridiculous to have a fringe at 60?

I have very straight very fine hair and not a lot of it around my forehead. Also a big forehead. I really want a new hair style without cutting all my hair off, I like it to be just below shoulder length despite my great age.

But no idea what to ask my hairdresser for!

How about a wispy long fringe that parts?

I suit a fringe so no doubt I'll have one at 60. Why would it be ridiculous?

FancyFanny · 14/11/2022 17:31

Why would it? Fringes are for anyone!

LubaLuca · 14/11/2022 17:32

I don't think a fringe is a young person's thing at all. They're good for anyone who'd like to break up a big forehead (like me!) or for anyone who just likes the look of them. I'd feel naked without mine now, so I'm sure I'll still have some kind of fringe when I'm 60.

MarshaMelrose · 14/11/2022 17:34

I'm 62. I have a fringe. I look much better with it than without!! 😱

ApolloandDaphne · 14/11/2022 17:36

I am 60 and I have always had a fringe. No-one has ever suggested I shouldn't.

ViktoriaPlzen · 14/11/2022 17:36

As my 60-something MIL says, fringes are cheaper than Botox!

shinynewapple22 · 14/11/2022 17:45

Late 50s and I have a fringe . Can't imagine I'll be growing it out in the next couple of years. Still dying my hair at the moment but I love to see a grey shiny bob (with fringe ).

Cashelmara · 14/11/2022 17:55

I am 60 and I do whatever I bloody well want. If you want a fringe, get a fringe.

Buteverythingsfine · 14/11/2022 17:58

I am a great fan of my fringe, had one since early 20s, still do.

SallyWD · 14/11/2022 18:06

My boss's wife is 73. She has a chic black bob with a fringe. She looks fabulous!

Iliveinanoodie · 14/11/2022 18:22

I am nearly 60. Not sure what I'm supposed to swap my fringe for? A pair of brocade curtains maybe?

Xztop · 14/11/2022 18:39

Due to a massive forehead I've had a fringe my whole 43 years and will continue to do so!

There is no age limit for anything, if you like it, have it!

lindyloo57 · 14/11/2022 21:33

I'm 62 with long straight hair and I have a fringe, have had one from childhood.

Zebracat · 14/11/2022 23:52

I have been asking myself the same question at 63. But my hair is thick and curly. I usually only get it cut every 6 months, so 1 issue is whether I can be arsed with the upkeep. If you get a regular cut I would say do it. Lulu swears by them, apparently.

notangelinajolie · 15/11/2022 00:17

If you still have enough hair at 60 - then why not.

AnnieSnap · 15/11/2022 00:19

I think it’s ridiculous to believe that any hair style is unacceptable over 60. We only look fabulous over 60, if we enjoy clothes and hair and express ourselves with them.

CallieQ · 15/11/2022 00:54

I have a fringe at 60 plus Confused

StarbucksSmarterSister · 15/11/2022 01:04

Why on earth would it be ridiculous?

It hides any wrinkles on your forehead.

Fairyliz · 15/11/2022 06:28

I’m in my 60’s and had a fringe my whole life.
One advantage is that I don’t really have any wrinkles on my forehead. Unfortunately the rest of my face doesn’t match.

AppleCrumbleRumble · 15/11/2022 09:09

Fringes can look so different though.. they can be subtle, classic, retro, goth. A lot depends on your face shape and proportions so no, it's not an age thing.
Some people say they have a big forehead when it's not really so it's best to post your face shape with obscured eyes/nose/mouth but I appreciate you may not want to for anonymity and privacy. Point is, it's not your age it's the style of the fringe and what the rest of your face looks like.
