Tall fatty style advice please mid-late 50’s

Help!! I get stressed out about what to wear during this time of year. I am fatty (size 22) so fatter than I should be (with a tummy and too late to do much about it). I am also tall 6ft so need 34’ inside leg trousers and mid to late 50’s.

I have recently bought some nice ish tops similar to the styles in the photos (but not these exact tops to minimise my tummy). But unsure what to wear on my bottom half (styles colours thinking probably black but the only trousers I have are wide legged)? Also what to wear on my feet? I usually go for comfort for trousers and footwear and for footwear I usually wear trainers, ancient tan ankle boots, sandals or clogs non would be right. A lot of the tops I have been looking at say would look great with leather jeans or similar but I couldn’t wear these at my size and doubt anywhere would sell any.

I have also recently went grey and want to look comfortable, casual and better than I usually do in the upcoming weeks for family meet ups, drinks with friends and meal out with DH and not get so stressed that I don’t want to go out at all (as has happened in previous years) etc.

I've just bought another pair of these trousers as they're smarter than my usual leggings and really comfortable. You might need to shorten them a bit www.longtallsally.com/lts-navy-blue-stretch-bootcut-trousers-p

i buy tall leggings on Amazon - these are nice and thick

Thanks I wouldn’t risk leggings at my size especially as the tops aren’t that long. I quite like those trousers did you buy your usual size? Also what sort of flattish shoes or boots would you wear and what colour with black trousers? I saw another pair at LTS but wasn’t sure if they would work or were the right look/shape if I wore the top loose and not tucked in? Was also thinking about a wide legged pair of trousers (black apartment pants) from Saint & Sofia but again wasn’t sure if the style/cut of trousers would work with a top/tops untucked and again would need boots or shoe recommendations?
Thanks

I really miss the reviews on Long Tall Sally. I am about a 34/35 inside leg with flats/low heels. Thanks

I just wore trainers with them recently, but have some flat mary jane type shoes I'd also wear with them. I'm not too fussed about shoes, after 50+ years of struggling to find any to fit.
I got trousers in 24. They were a bit loose but perfect after a wash. They're stretchy so forgiving, but not camel toey

Thanks

Anyone else any thoughts on bottoms and footwear?

I was thinking maybe some flat/low heeled new boots (as its winter and to be a little less casual than usual). But worried the best trousers types would be uncomfortably tight leather or leather look tight unflattering black trousers which I wouldn’t suit and with a blouse or shirt type top worn out might make me look even bigger boxier?

Thanks

Is this for social occasions parties etc or trudging round the shops? How would you describe your shape OP?

Can you post the actual top?

I'm a pear /hour glass shape with a. Curvy waist, big tummy and a and thick thighs and calves.

Do you want buttons or elasticised waist.

It depends where the top ends.

I have a defined waist so like tapered high waist trouser as I find these have a lost of extra loose material in the lower stomach area and then give a nice but not clinging. If you have no defined waist and are more apple shaped I'm not sure this would work?

Footwear I'd do a chunky loafer and bare feet or some patterned tight socks

I don't like boots with trousers

jamontoastaddict · 15/11/2022 18:13

Sorry I've seen the occasions now. I'll see if I can find something

RitaSueandBobtwo · 15/11/2022 19:28

Thanks. I have a big tummy all over my absolute worst feature. Prob stretchy fabric to get the fit and be comfortably able to sit down.

Think more casual drinks/meal out in a nice bar/restaurant and meeting up with friends and family.

I can't post photos since updating my phone which is really annoying me! I can't post links as they are in the next app.

Anyway on the next website I'd try

Trousers: Long Tall Sally slim leg trousers P98-333 £22

Shoes: black forever comfort clean patent loafers £36 177-784

Or

Linzi Samson slip on loafers with tassel trim p48-276

Good luck

Heya, I’m a very similar shape and also a size 22.

The first top from monsoon is lovely I think that neater shape is good for big apple tummies. I’d also recommend anything wrap shaped or faux wraps or knotted / twisted front. A lovely slinky cardigan in your best colour (think slim knit and slinky, with one or two buttons fastened- Next sometimes have them) can really help over a darker top underneath as the bright colour pulls eyes away from your tummy. Mine is mustard yellow and I love it!

Bottoms wise I like dark denim high waisted Jeans (SHEIN do these in curve in all sizes not sure about length though) with a straight leg. Knee high flat boots look very smart, maybe experiment with tucking trousers in, or shorter ankle boots. I find tops with jeans have to be hip length though.

The Monsoon too would look good with Some straight leg or wide leg black trousers in heavy weight fabric with some gloriously pointy flats or brogues. I like flat shoes with a chunky heel, or slightly retro styled ones with a slight platform like these Flat chunky brogues Outgragerously point and fun flats

Another option is wrap dresses with a structured jacket (I have a leather one like the pic above). With dresses I wear Snag tights and ankle boots.

I’m tall and used to shop at LTS. However they took ages to deliver and then refund. Saying that though Next do their range . I love Next Tall as their clothing is fab.
Black faux leggings and a long top to hide your bum if you need to.
I like mom jeans with ankle boots and chunky jumpers .

RitaSueandBobtwo · 17/11/2022 20:48

Thanks my bum isn’t too bad its my tummy.

I remember seeing something on insta or ticktock where a woman in the wrong photo wore a shirt or top untucked with wide legged trousers (which they said was wrong as looked too boxy). Whereas i think they recommended tucking the top
in, doing a french tuck or wearing a belt created a more slimmer look. However, I can’t seem to pull either look off. I have tried copying fat fab 40 on instagram but people comment about my top looking odd and was I aware I had it like that etc. But she is younger and slimmer than me.
