and i am not even 40 yet!!! I find permanent colour too harsh. I have used the newer Casting one which is pretty good, yet when i tried the mid brown as opposed to the darker brown, the white /grey parts of my hair were yellow.

wtf is that all about, I was so surprised.

Don't buy the Boots Botanics (semi-permanent)ones because their coverage is really poor.

I bought one, lured in my the "less-chemicals/more natural products" blurb and was really disappointed.

I emailled them about it as I thought the wording on the pack was mis-leading (about the coverage for grey hair) , but they weren't interested and just fobbed me off.

semi permanent home dyes don't cut the mustard. my sister gets a semi done in a salon every 6 weeks and ti looks good. i go for the permanent myself.

i gave up the permanent, because i fancied some highlights, and at the salon they did a test on my hair, and the bleach or whatever it was would not strip the colour. said my hair was way too porous,a nd that I should try semi's, if i insisted on doing my hair at home.

well i cant afford the hairdresers, so for yr now have used semi.

Maybe i should just go back to the permanents, cos i can't see the upkeep being affordable, even if they could give me a few highlights.

Cos permanent or not i wouldhave to have the highlights re done, and the roots for the grey.

I am bored tho of one colour hair, bah!!

use a lighter colour than you think you need

I use nice and easy 106 medium ash blonde and it works quite well, i only do the temples and front of my hair (where the grey is)

I have aveda streaks when I can afford it and they dont seemt obe affected by the nice and easy

that soudns like bolleaux about the bleach

pirategirl · 30/01/2008 11:56

i am not sure about the bleach, i went to two salons and the outcome was the same!! Apparently my hair was in terrible condition, form they said using permanet colour , and the hair went various colurs and broke when they applied the bleach. I had to agree that having that on myhead would be pretty bad!!!

My problem is that i am dark skinned, and have dark hair, dark eyebrows.

The grey is allover, at every root so to speak.
