Decent eyeliner recommendations for hooded eyes?

Haven’t worn eyeliner for years but fancy giving it a little go again. I don’t like wearing a lot just a little to enhance my eyes a bit but don’t know what’s best would it be a pencil or a liquid?

I have always like liquid. My favourite just now is NYX. Nice thin nib.

I have hooded eyes and use Collection 24 hour extreme colour felt tip liner on my upper lash line. It is about £4 and I like the control from the pen without the nib being too hard.
Must have been using the same brand daily for about a decade now!

For lower lash line I use a pencil liner on the rare occasion I put it on, I have a maybelline waterproof one as I leak tears when I laugh Blush

The NARS liquid eyeliner has good staying power.

I like the gel ones that come in a pot, maybelline is a good budget option. Highly suggest using a good primer beforehand.

@Tinks15 I've read about Avon glimmersticks loads of times on here over the years but have only just got round to trying them. I'm 34 and eye makeup often ends up smudging on me, have slightly hooded eyes already, and I've found the glimmersticks to be excellent. I like them far more than my far more expensive Stila eyeliners. Lovely colours, go on really easily and no smudging at all. They last til you take them off.

I stocked up with more last night, and they have them on a Black Friday offer. Something mad like £8 for three so if you didn't get on with them you've not wasted much.

ShellfishCrocodile · 13/11/2022 09:26

I find the glimmersticks are nice but they smudge on me (possibly due to rushing and not using a good primer). I still like them for outer eye with blending.

I like M and S makeup. They have a good pen which I like. It's the only one I've found wasn't a disaster. Plus it isn't that hard to take off when you make a mistake.

I like these [https://www.qvcuk.com/Laura-Geller-5-Piece-INKcredible-Eyeliner-Collection.product.246875.html?cm_mmc=PPCSHOPPING--Google_Shopping--Beauty-_-PMax&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyMKbBhD1ARIsANs7rEHLTiZSIOHIu4rtHdtIpecPwjdNwI08ax3SRae2_tTNcRvjpc9udegaAndhEALw_wcB&] I find they don't move or smudge and if you buy them from QVC and they don't suit you can send them back for a refund.

CarelessWhiskers · 13/11/2022 18:50

I used to use gels but they move easy, I moved back to liquid and MAC 24hr is my favourite, and won’t transfer

HairyMcLarie · 13/11/2022 18:57

I've hooded eyes and worn eyeliner for years. All of them ended up on my upper eyelid. The pen ones I couldn't get in a straight line and looked awful and very harsh.

I had a revelation with an angled brush and black/brown eyeshadow. No transferring and easy to apply. Can build up for a more dramatic look. I can't believe it took me so long to get it!

Thanks everyone I’ll take a look at them all. Do you all use black as opposed to brown?

I find black can look a bit harsh on its own, prefer mid-dark brown.

I prefer a really dark green or navy, I used to love a clique navy liner with their navy mascara as it was softer than black and black but they discontinued the mascara 😡
