Could you please recommend a good silver/light grey toner for light bleach blonde hair.

I have tried purple shampoo and the Jerome Russell Bblond toner in Silver - both products have no effect on the yellow but seems to grab all the white lightest bits and dyes them purple. Even if I put it on and then wash it straight out, I still end up with purple/lilac hair.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Do all toners need developer?
Would I need to apply a silver box dye to achieve that light grey/silver colour?

Im not a hairdresser but bleach my own hair.

How patchy is your hair? Also how light is it? You can't make your hair lighter with toner so you really need to get it as close to white (at 10) with bleach before putting silver on it.

It sounds like you need to get someone to help you to even it out a bit. Either by bleaching the yellow parts again (only if your hair can stand it!) or applying a darker semi permanent colour to the lighter sections and lighter one in the darker bits.

So looking at a chart, I would say apart from the top two inches at the root, the rest of my hair is between a 10 and 11.
The inch of root that was bleached last time is currently a Level 9 and the inch of my roots that have now grown through so my natural colour is Level 6.

It looks like the last time I had my roots done the bleach wasn't on long enough and they put a toner on hoping it wouldn't look too yellow. But it's quite obvious having a straight line from brown roots, to a yellow line then rest is white.
