I got a new catalogue today and it looks exactly the same as the last one

I am finding that just looking through the catalogue itself satisfies any need in me for rose prints or little birds

You do sort of, have a point HW but I don't think that prints and retro stuff should just be chucked together to make one whole jumble. Less is more.

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 12:19

definitely v. ikea but i like their fabrics too. i am a textile whore.

nailpolish · 29/01/2008 12:20

yes i love ikea

rantinghousewife · 29/01/2008 12:21

Oh yes, I could spend all day getting tactile in a textile shop.
My budget however extends to charity shop, so charity shop it is, most of the time.

booge · 29/01/2008 12:22

It never really appealed to me anyway. Agree it's all a bit twee.

Cappuccino · 29/01/2008 12:29

yes naily I searched far and wide for our blinds fabric and ended up with Ikea stuff

marimekko - mmmmmmmmmmmm

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 12:31

the marimekko clothes are hilarious

Cappuccino · 29/01/2008 12:32

I did once fancy the idea of one of their bags (Kidston)

but I have seen them so many times in the catalogue over and over again I am bored now

they occasionally bring out 'exciting new shapes' but it is still the same print

OP posts:
Tutter · 29/01/2008 13:09

am afraid to say that i am totally their demographic

but have never shopped there

have had a few gifts - picnic set and china mugs - quite nice

my spotty oilcloth tablecloth is a ck copy, apparently

Anna8888 · 29/01/2008 13:11

I think Cath Kidston et al is fine in small doses in the kitchen/laundry room.

Personally prefer Greengate these days

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 13:12

same tutter. i do have one duvet that i got in tk max. although i did ask dh for a nice bag for my knitting, he obviously googled 'knitting bag' and hit the jackpot at cathkidston. i love it. admittedly having matching curtains and wallpaper would take the sheen off my knitting bag somewhat.

Lauriefairycake · 29/01/2008 13:16

My house is a shrine to kidston/laura ashley/charity shop junk - it just goes - small cottage

I too got the catalogue today and I like the giant bags under the sink but they are £35 so won't be buying any in a great hurry

I wish they did the clothes in bigger sizes - like an 18-20 but I think chubby are not in their demographic

nailpolish · 29/01/2008 13:22

lol at having curtains and matching knitting bag

so you knit? do you crochet>

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 13:25

omg, not another edin. mumsnetter who knits! yes i am a new convert to teh wonderful world of wool. my new years resolution is to learn to crochet by my sister nicked the book.

Maidamess · 29/01/2008 13:29

this is my style guru for interiors

MegaLegs · 29/01/2008 13:30

The CK bublle burst for me when the laundry baskets I bought in their sale arrived. Badly made, mass produced tat I'm sad to say. They did refund but IMO their products are overpriced for the quality.

nailpolish · 29/01/2008 13:30

i dont knit

mum gave up teaching me blaming the facti was lef thanded

anywya

if you crochet i need/want a crochet beret and arm warmers

i would pay

ive hinted to pruni loads of times but she wont take the bait...

i wont be offended if you say no! knitted would do on large needles

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 13:33

lol, pruners is much better at knitting than i am and i haven't even started on crochet. find a pattern on line and i wll get back to you.

sniggers at arm warmers! i would love to knit some but what on earth do you do with them? why can you just wear a cardi?

you should try again i was amazed how easy it was.

nailpolish · 29/01/2008 13:34

i have a coat with 3/4 arms and i want arm warmers to keep my wrists cosy

ThePettyandIllinformedGoat · 29/01/2008 13:36

Lenny, I am sure of my own taste, don't have much money and I like it!

But as someone else said, its everything in moderation. I don't know anyone thats got top to toe Cath Kidston, just because it IS Cath Kidston.
