Help my style my 81 year old mum

I’d love to get my DM something stylish and dressy for Christmas.

she’s 5 ft 6, about 9
stone fairly straight up and down with small bust and long legs.

she’s 81 but doesn’t see herself as this age and looks late 50s/early 60s easily. Doesn’t wear hardly any makeup.

she used to like 70s long dresses but her style in the past was bohemian and even now it’s just normal clothes… she likes blue and fairly simple styles, the odd pattern. She also loved Peruvian pattern clothes.so brights etc

she hates shopping and isn’t a dressy person. Any ideas please?!

style wise I’d guess a bit like Lauren Bacall.

Monsoon? They have quite a bohemian range

My mum is the same. We actually got her some lovely dresses from believe it or not, Fat Face. Still rocking that 'I'm not an old lady but I'm aware of my comfort' look. What was a winner was full pyjama and dressing gown sets from Cyber Jamie's. So stylish and comfortable.

She used to love them back when they first started!

she’s not keen on dresses and skirts partly as she has a big scar on her knee from a knee replacement operation a few years ago.

Would she wear a jumpsuit? Something fun for Christmas?

Search 'tunic tops' on the Debenhams website and filter on the Mantaray brand, can be worn with leggings or trousers.
Or take a look at Joe Browns

Try Masai they have interesting prints and something different.

Gudrun Sjoden?

She sounds like an ex Toast person! They’ve gone rather sharply downhill in design terms but the denim is still excellent - and the odd shirt / blouse / printed thing.

Very simple clothes …

I think of Nigel Cabourn as quite bohemian when worn by women. Definitely suggests a more adventurous life than the 8.28 to Paddington.

Suggestions are a M&S wide legged crepe trouser & one of the lovely turquoise cashmere sweaters or a silk pop over blouse in ivory?

Gudrun Sjoden?

Her sister has shown me that site but I don’t think it’s quite her either!

This is probably more along the lines of what she’d wear.

things she’s seen me in and liked for her are:

  • whistles navy ribbed jumper with gold zip exposed at back - I gave it to her!

  • Vera moda suede bright cobalt blue biker jacket

  • Zara white embroidered colourful jacket

she’s liked things you could buy in H&M about 5 years ago - a nice sort of Indian print peacock top, paisley long sleeved top - both in blue or various shades of blue.

we were in Zara the other week with me returning some items as we’d met up for coffee and she told me after we’d left that a woman there was wearing some amazing trousers with a lovely pattern!

i think sadly she’s less silk and cashmere!

I think Zara.it’s affordable, fairly fashionable and a lot of bright colours.

Will definitely have a look at these thanks!

she actually had her own fashion company for approx 5 years in late 60s/early 70s!

she used to like but more for me French style, so lots of navy, black and clean lines. She bought me a French school girl sailor tunic when I was 15/16 in very dark navy almost black from Now! (80s/90s shop started by the man who started George for Asda).
