Rain Jacket for Early Teen Boy

My 13 year old has a long walk to school and his current rain jacket is too small. Where do people shop for this kind of thing for young teens? I'm completely confused by sizes now - do I still look on the 'kids' sections online or is he now a small adult size?? He's average/tall for his age so would probably be looking at age 14 clothes really. I need something to protect him in the rain but not too bulky - so not a flimsy pac-a-mac type thing but thinner than a winter coat, with a proper hood that won't blow down etc. Is Craghoppers and good, Adidas, Decathlon? I don't want to spend a fortune (as he might lose it).

I bought my teenager an O2 England rugby one (Nike, in the sale at M&M Direct) and it's been a really decent waterproof for the money.

I've tended to head to Mountain Warehouse or Go Outdoors when shopping for similar as they often have a decent range where you can compare weight/waterproof ness/foldability etc. I don't usually go too high price as they get grown out of too quickly and don't get worn that often. Now he's stopped growing (and slightly better at holding onto his possessions) I've invested a bit more. It's a right old conundrum working out what's the best option though especially if it then sits in the bottom of a school bag and gets forgotten!

Last year my son had a puffer jacket for warmth with a very lightweight waterproof to go over this for the rainy days, both of which could then be stuffed into his bag without taking up too much space.

Thank you - I'll look out for sporty ones and check Mountain Warehouse. I seem to remember they had a good voucher for money off before Christmas last year.....

Children's stop at 13 at most sports or outdoor shops. I'd buy a small men's which should last two or three years. A small fits both me and DS 16yo.

North face have teen sizes up to 16 yrs
Very good light warm and waterproof coats that last

Another vote for Mountain Warehouse I just bought a waterproof ski jacket for ds in sales for £28.
