How to get slingbacks to stay on

I've a beautiful pair of slingback heels that I want to wear to a wedding. However I cannot get them to stay on my feet, my heels are slipping out of them. They do not have any elastic or buckle so I can't tighten them. I've tried all the sticky back heel grips, but no luck. I've also tried cotton wool at the toes to push the foot back into the heel, but this is hurting my foot 😫
They are from Zara, anyone got any further suggestions? Thanks

I'm afraid it's probably your feet. I'm the same, my heels are really narrow and straight.

I use elastoplast tape to stick them to me. You need to double it over so it's like double sided tape. Incredibly tricky but it can be done.

I would love the answer to this too. I love sling backs but they always fall off!

RosesAndHellebores · 03/11/2022 19:53

This is why I don't buy slingbacks.

EdinaMonsoon · 04/11/2022 07:55

I have the same problem. You could try a strip of lingerie tape? You know the double sided stuff that you use to keep the neckline of a dress in place?

twinkleteas · 04/11/2022 08:20

It's not possible 👐🏼

CourtAppointedHairdresser · 04/11/2022 08:32

I have the same thing. Wide toe area and narrow heels in a world of people with better foot proportions

Banjaxx · 04/11/2022 08:37

Double sided toffee tape!

TollgateDebs · 04/11/2022 08:47

I have slingbacks and it is very much about them being the right shape for your feet or maybe my feet being the right shape for the shoe! All of my slingbacks (I have four pairs) have the small area of elastic in the leather back strap (aids grip) and sufficient cover at the toes to hold the foot in comfortably. You can get a cobbler to reduce the size of the back strap and add an extra layer to the strap of suede or even build in an elastic inner strap. Worth trying if you love the shoes.

CMOTDibbler · 04/11/2022 09:08

If you take them to a shoe repairer they will be able to shorten the strap and put some elastic in

waltzingparrot · 04/11/2022 10:47

Try hairspray on your foot to stick it to the shoe. Should last 2-3 hours so take a mini can with you to top up.

Rosiemiz · 04/11/2022 13:11

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will try the double sided tape. I've already taken them to a cobbler, said he wouldn't be able to do anything due to the type of fabric (it's like a heavy satin). I've ordered more shoes for the wedding (not slingbacks!!). Looks like my lovely slingbacks will never be worn 😫

Ooh they’re fabulous!

Coffeepot72 · 04/11/2022 19:16

They’re gorgeous but as a previous poster said, unless there is enough cover in toe area to keep your foot in place, you’re going to struggle

deeperthanallroses · 05/11/2022 08:21

They are great! I don’t have sling back feet but I do the double sided tape in the strap and that works for the pairs I have.

Daisy62 · 05/11/2022 15:47

Google clear elastic shoe bands - have you tried those? Maybe too visible but might work.

Toottooot · 05/11/2022 16:37

Tit tape.

CMOTDibbler · 05/11/2022 17:08

They are lovely. I think it would be easy to sew in elastic inside the strap. Sew in a piece to the outside side of the strap first, then fiddle with the length until you work out what you need (a friend and a safety pin will help) then sew that end down. If you are really brave you would get a neater effect by cutting the strap, shortening and then inserting elastic. A matching sharpie would colour the elastic in

Ladyofthepeonies · 05/11/2022 17:13

My mate uses doublesided dress tape on the whole of the base of her foot and a little bit on the back to make it look right. I guess you could say she’s determined

LoveVelo · 05/11/2022 17:34

I had some of these (they stick on but I reinforced this with a couple of dots of superglue)
