What kind of jeans are in?

Haven't worn jeans for a couple of years now, but tempted to get some to wear this winter.

I want to avoid the "lollipop" look, so skinnies are out for me.

What style can I wear at 56 that won't look ridiculous?

Ooh loads - straight leg or wider cuts, cropped with ankle boots, bootcut … Trinny did a good YouTube on jeans recently. Take a look at that:

Everything other than skinnies is in fashion, but lots of people love their skinnies so no one will be alone in wearing them.

Seeing a lot of split hems around too, look great.

Think carefully about what shoes/boots you have and choose something that'll go with them.

90s cargo type wide leg. They’re the most “in” thing. But really anything goes!

Bootcut jeans are comfy and flattering! I love Next bootcut jeans personally.

It's bad news for anyone under five foot seven I'm afraid. Skinny jeans are still in all the shops but they no longer look 'modern'. Straight and wider legs do look modern when worn by the tall, the young, the otherwise carefully styled.

But chucked on by the average height middle aged woman they look unflattering and definitely not 'put together'. Don't even start on what footwear you're meant to go for.

I'm a lifelong jeans obsessive and for the first time, I'm struggling.

@PumpkinSpicedTea totally agree on the Next bootcut. Mine are so comfortable. The dark blue dye is lasting very well in the wash too (fading jeans are a bugbear of mine).
