Boots that look nice but are really hard wearing (lots of walking)

I need a cross between a smart fashion boot and a walking boot. Saw a thread about Solovair but not sure they (or DMs) are great for walking? I do at least an hours walk each day. Help! Needs to be nice enough for work.

Ankle boots or taller boots? Can’t speak for solovair myself but they get good reviews on here. I have ankle DMs which are wearing well but don’t feel they are smart enough for work. I have thick soled ankle boots from Hush, and several from All Saints which are awesome - look smart enough for work, comfy, hard wearing. Also got a couple of cracking pairs (similar style - ankle boots, thick soles but smart enough for work) from Blowfish from Schuh.

I like an ankle boot for trousers and a calf boot for skinnies so both. Great reccs

Quite like a Timberland boot.

I have the fairfax and Favor Boudicca boot. Waxed leather so waterproof and a really hard wearing sole. I’ve also got their explorer boot which is essentially the same but taller. I work in agriculture so they both do smart in the office but sturdy enough for the countryside!

Blundstone

ladygindiva · 27/10/2022 13:54

I have these Timberland Chelsea boots and I think they look smart and find them very comfortable, I walk a lot too.

They come in a lot of other colours too.

Embassy London are very comfortable and hard wearing. Their Brick Lane boots are a good cross of smart/fashionable and last really well.

Thanks all, great suggestions

I have these and they are virtually indestructible. I must have had them about 4 years now and they are still like new, comfy too (but did need a bit of wearing in).

It's the holy grail of footwear isn't it, a boot that's hard wearing, comfortable for walking and looks good!

StamppotAndGravy · 28/10/2022 07:14

I have the Solovair Chelsea boots which are just about smart enough for work under trousers. They're hard wearing but heavy with it

KirstenBlest · 28/10/2022 08:20

I wear Solovair dealer boots and astronaut boots. I wear them for work with dresses and skirts, and with jeans. They are smarter than DMs. I've not noticed them being heavy, but they are compared to trainers.

The ones I got from Toast seemed to have heavier soles.

AriettyHomily · 28/10/2022 08:48

I walk for hours in my dms, love them and wear them for work.

Dandyrose · 28/10/2022 09:20

Do you wear yours under jeans/trousers? I have some slim jeans that i wear with high tops but would like a smarter look.

I wear them with jeans with turn ups or wide legged, I've got big feet they don't look right if not turned up!

My Celtic and Co warm lined hiker boots are stylish but indestructible

needthiswilderness · 28/10/2022 16:44

Surely blundstones? They are completely ubiquitous where I live, but tbf they are really great. I’ll stick with the brand for life I imagine!

DoodlePug · 28/10/2022 23:55

Clarks orinoco come in Chelsea and various heights of lace up. I find them very comfortable.

Myfairgrant · 29/10/2022 06:08

Timberlands are my go-to!

bert3400 · 29/10/2022 06:24

I recently bought these and love them. Needed some wearing in but now are so comfortable and I can walk in them for hours . They look great with anything and are a lovely Matt black & fur lined.

Timberlands here all the way. I have several pairs and tend to wear the older ones for gardening/walking. The oldest pair have lining that has worn away, but the rest of the boot just keeps on going. Great price in sales, quite often from places like Office!
