I'm looking for a product, applied before drying and styling I think, which:

Helps define hair and make it look gorgeous
Stops it looking too fluffy
Protects hair from heat
Doesn't weigh it down
Helps to hold curls/ waves in place
Does not make hair sticky, crispy or greasy - ideally can't feel it in your hair

I'm expecting too much, aren't I?

As someone who's wasted God knows how much money on hair products over the years, I can honestly say the best one I've found is Living Proof 5-in1 hair cream. It ticks all your boxes and smells lovely too. It's not cheap though.

Hmm I can only say what works for me, I have naturally quite curly hair- these are things I love -

Cantu custard - if you use too much it will go sticky but just enough will do what you want, just scrunch it out when it’s dried (scrunch the cast out).

Kms curl up - orange bottle

John Frieda curl crème

Cantu leave in conditioner

I usually use a combination of the leave in conditioner and then some custard.

If you’re on Instagram this account is fabulous, her hair is a lot curlier than mine but I’ve picked up loads of tips and she switches between really cheap and high end stuff. Her current fave thing is a £3 mousse. I tried it today it’s pretty good! (obviously a lot of it is ads but still fun watching).

L'Oreal Liss Control smooth control gel-creme, is my perfect product, it's discontinued now I believe although it's still possible to get hold of it.
I'm following this though as I need a good alternative.

Forgot to say, the Living Proof 5in1 stuff!

Lollypop701 · 26/10/2022 18:47

This is good for non crunchy defined curls

Hmm sounds like living proof worth a try then, thanks!

My hair isn't curly (just slightly wavy) so think the cantu stuff might be too heavy.

My hair sounds the same as yours. R&CO suncatcher or Percy and reed no oil oil are your friends.
