If you get your dark (greying) hair professionally coloured

Please may I ask a question.

After years of box dyes I am now paying to have mine coloured but the past 2 times she has only done the roots.

Is this normal?!

I get colour in roots and then just a few foils through

It may be better for your hair just to have roots done. If you have the look you want then it's working for you. Ask your hairdresser if unsure.

AriettyHomily · 25/10/2022 22:10

Depends what look you want.

mrsg2019 · 25/10/2022 22:10

It depends on the colour you're wanting. If you just want the sand colour but with no greys then yes, doing just the roots is normal, it's to protect your hair from needless damage as it's already been processed. If you want a total colour change then of course they'll need to do it all

Yes just toots done every time - occasionally in winter a few extra light ones, but in summer when it gets a bit light, she puts more dark ones through to tone it down. Never puts it on full head though.

I get my roots done every 12 weeks but in the winter I get her to pit the colour right through my hair as I prefer it darker then, the sun lightens it during the summer.

Yes the sun has lightened mine this year too so I was expecting her to do the full head of hair not just the roots. She charged me the same amount. I will ask next time.
