£200 to spend in John Lewis!

Hello,

I have had no money for many years (children, divorce… boring) but recently was given £200 of JL vouchers.

Used to be someone who shopped a lot! Love fashion, love shopping. Was going to be sensible and buy a mirror or something but thinking would like to get some nice clothes just for me.

Wondering about these boots. Are they cool enough to wear with dresses and straight leg jeans? I feel a bit out of touch!

What would you buy?!

Investmenty type pieces that will last me!

Thank you!

I like the boots! Have a look at Hush (available from JL) for lovely dresses.

Very nice! My top tip for shopping at John Lewis online is that when you are searching you can list the items by % of discount so you can look at all the things in the sale first.

Sorry but I don’t like those boots.

I think boots or a coat would be a great use if your voucher though.

Jeans

lentilly · 25/10/2022 08:52

Or a handbag

Medoca · 25/10/2022 08:55

Whilst not the pinnacle of fashion, I have boots by that brand and they are the most comfortable boots ever. Never had to break them in, completely waterproof, and warm. Have done many winter walks in them!!

I wouldn’t recommend Hush as a previous poster has said. I have had a few things from there and quality is awful. The cotton bobbles, the dresses feel cheap and thin.

savoycabbage · 25/10/2022 08:57

I would also stay clear of hush on quality grounds.

I have some really nice jumpers from John Lewis. Also a mac. Neither cutting edge fashion but good quality and reasonably priced.

Remus - what boots would you recommend? I was looking for ages! To go with skirts/dresses for work/play! I have very small feet so size 2/3! Any ideas?

Love the boots. I’d also get a cashmere jumper with it which will last years if properly cared for.
or I’d blow the whole lot on a smart wool coat

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/10/2022 12:44

I think I'd probably go for a pair of black Chelsea boots, maybe slightly chunky soled. The ones you linked to remind me of Victorian street urchins, sorry.

Inoffensive and a bit dull but they'd be comfortable

Blow the budget

IrisVersicolor · 25/10/2022 13:28

⬆️ Love the Mango and White Stuff boots. The Chelsea boots are dull but useful also rans.

Niftythrifter · 25/10/2022 13:29

Levi’s

MiniMumMax · 25/10/2022 13:32

Thanks Waa, like those Carvela ones - bit funkier.
Victorian street Urchin! Lol! Clearly that’s my jam these days! Funny!
thanks everyone!

If you got a pair of boots for around £100.

You could also get a cashmere cardigan like this:

(I prefer the green but I don’t know what colours you wear).

Or a dress. I like Nobody’s Child.
