What high street shops sell ladies doc martens?

OP posts:
Purplecatshopaholic · 19/10/2022 05:44

DMs have their own shops, but Schuh also sell them in store.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/10/2022 05:48

My latest were from Tower London

Clymene · 19/10/2022 05:49

Get solovairs instead. They used to make dr martens until they outsourced manufacturing to Asia

mollymole999 · 19/10/2022 05:57

@Clymene these are safe sort of price as DMs so I think I'll stuck with those

@CeeceeBloomingdale I didn't realise tower London was on the high street?

Office

NiceTwin · 19/10/2022 06:02

Solovair. Better made, more like Docs of old, not the overpriced crap they turn out now.

AnyFucker · 19/10/2022 06:07

Office or Schuh

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/10/2022 06:35

Yeah they do, locations here. I actually bought mine online but they do have physical stores too.

When I bought them I got them from Schuh or straight from Doc Martens online.
I’m another Solovair convert, though! They are like the Docs I got in my teens - well made, comfortable, made in Britain.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 19/10/2022 06:46

Another shout for Solovair here. Although DM still ok in some lines (1460s), and they’re better for wacky colours and patterns that I like. Spots, metallics and so on. I get mine from the DM website. (And Solovairs from their website.)

mollymole999 · 19/10/2022 07:01

The question was where to buy in HIGH STREET as maybe I'd like to try them on??!

MargotMoon · 19/10/2022 07:01

Ooh these Solovairs are lovely! I bought a pair of DMs a few years ago and was unimpressed with the quality compared to the ones I used to wear in the 90s in my indie kid youth

fantasmasgoria1 · 19/10/2022 07:03

Dr martens have a factory shop in Wellingborough.

LynetteScavo · 19/10/2022 07:06

I think Schuh always have some in the high street sores, but I think as they're so expensive it's worth going to one of their high street stores to try on a particular style. But that depends where you live.

LynetteScavo · 19/10/2022 07:07

@fantasmasgoria1 is the factory store worth a visit if you want a particular style, or is it a bit random?

NightmareSlashDelightful · 19/10/2022 07:12

DM own stores are best. Then Office or Schuh, but they’ll have much more limited ranges.

Quitelikeacatslife · 19/10/2022 07:15

My daughter tried on in Schuh but they didn't have the colour she wanted so bought on line . Good to do as she went for the monkey boot style. On website they have the British made ones too

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 19/10/2022 07:18

Another vote for solovair. Great shoes. Properly made.

flowerycurtain · 19/10/2022 07:22

The factory shoe shop near Wellingborougj has closed down!

Yes I think we understood without you shouting. All of these recommendations are high street shops. If they aren't in your high street perhaps you should ask for recommendations in your particular town or city.

TroublesComing32 · 19/10/2022 07:54

Office have loads of different ones, the pascals are lovely and don’t hurt your feet :) x

faffadoodledo · 19/10/2022 07:59

Wow. Solovair. Who Knew? Top tip! They look fabulous and I'm going to start browsing. I love that they're made in Northampton, traditional shoe making capital of England too.

I saw someone wearing these great boots and after hesitating for a moment I actually asked what she was wearing.

She was happy to share where they were from.

Daisypod · 19/10/2022 08:04

When did it close down @flowerycurtain ?!? I was there not long ago and had another trip planned 😞
