Non sulphate shampoo for itchy scalp

Boring and icky sorry, but any reccos for an non-sulphate Curly girl friendly shampoo for an itchy/flaky scalp which is also not too expensive? Searched the forum, but all reccos seem to be spendy or come in very large bottles. See Body Shop ginger shampoo or Moogoo recommended most often. I keep trying to do Curly Girl but have a dry and flaky scalp.

Pretty sure some of the dandruff shampoos were silicone free, have you checked them?

Aleppo soap might be worth a go, look for at least 40% laurel oil (not from amazon!). Should cost about £10 and last you for months.

As far as I know Head and Shoulders, Nizoral and Neutrogena all have SLS.

You can get a small bottle of the Body Shop ginger shampoo.

It's the only one that has sorted out my scalp.

Eucerin urea shampoo is good

Also recommend bodyshop ginger

Had an itchy scalp all my life tried everything

MooGoo is the only one that has really worked for me except for shampoo bars. But it's hit and miss with shampoo bars, some still irritate me and I haven't figured out which ingredient my scalp doesn't like. MooGoo seems expensive but you really don't need a lot so it works out ok. Also, the MooGoo conditioner comes out looking like a thin useless lotion but it's actually really good too.

Think body shop ginger is curly girl friendly and has totally sorted out DPs scaby itchy scalp.

Switching to Childs Farm baby shampoo is what's stopped my scalp itching

XHC shampoo and conditioner from B&M or savers. I swear by it and my sister has found it better than the stuff the doctor recommends for her eczema and psoriasis both of which affect her scalp

WonderWoop · 19/10/2022 00:11

@LobeliaBaggins not answering the question you asked but thought I'd share anyway... I suffered from awful scalp psoriasis for a long time (I would wake up at night in pain scratching). I'm currently pregnant and have realized that since I stopped drinking alcohol it's completely stopped. It took about 8-10 weeks to stop, it wasn't an overnight thing. But I will be re-introducing it very cautiously after the baby arrives to find out exactly what was triggering me and see if I can keep it at bay.

Palmers coconut sulfate free shampoo and conditioner

Neverplayleapfrogwithaunicorn · 19/10/2022 07:08

Keihls amino acid shampoo is expensive but I really recommend it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will try Body Shop first and then the others if that does not work, as it is so recommended.
