Hair smoothing treatment without losing curls

Has anyone had a keratin type treatment in a salon to get rid of frizz long term, while keeping their curls?

if so, what is it called and what's your experience been?

i don't even get my hair cut at a salon so all very new for me. Is it all chemical smells and smoke or is that very out of date now - I hope so!

thanks.

I am googling and there are some types claiming this but nothing that I can see salons using

some people are saying of the ordinary one, it didn't kill frizz on curly hair

others are saying they still had to spend a fair bit of time styling hair so perhaps i have an unrealistic idea about it

How curly is your hair? Do you do curly girl/ do any curl maintenance/products etc? I would recommend saving up and splurging to go to a good curly hair hairdresser and letting them show you what to use to smooth frizz

The Aveda curl range is really good

Salons selling/using Goldwell products do this Smoothing treatment . it is similar to a Brazilian blow dry but not as severe.

Yeah a good curly hair dresser is worth their weight in gold. I would follow mine anywhere. She is just magnificent.

Kerastraight helped me grow out my relaxer and manage my huge head of hair

Thanks all
I'll look up all these tomorrow

I do use some cheap and cheerful product but nothing can withstand waiting at the bus stop etc and I tend to arrive looking as frizzy as if I had done nothing.

so I was hoping a long term treatment would effectively spare that work. Am I being unrealistic?

I did go to a proper hairdresser about twenty years ago, but a professional blow dry is something I can't replicate at home. she occasionally used a Bumble product on my hair but really I think the secret was in the blow dry.

I don't have special occasions now really but it might be worth getting a blow dry for those, or when I have to do work presentations because so many are filmed now, grr.
