Jewellery sets that look expensive but aren't please

I recently attended a lecture series and was mesmerised by the jewellery sets the presenter was wearing. It made me think that matching jewellery is a great way to look put together even though mismatched may be more fashionable.

If I could afford it, I would buy the Missoma Lena necklace and matching earrings - I like all the stones but think the moonstone would be most practical. Its not that it's astronomically expensive but I'd love to find a set with a similar vibe for £50 or less total. Any ideas please?

Definitely Etsy as the previous poster said or if you can wait for the Missoma sale, items do get discounted by 50-70% off. That’s the only time I buy direct from Missoma. If you’re not bothered by second hand you will also find lots of their stuff on depop and eBay.

Thanks all, 50-70% off sounds pretty good! In the meantime I'll have a browse through etsy.

Orelia jewellery - basically rip off Missoma at the 3rd of the price.

I would agree with this! Have loads of it

Watapalava · 19/10/2022 23:32

Etsy jewellery tends to run colour after few weks

Flyinggeesei234 · 20/10/2022 10:39

@nomistake @OneFrenchEgg can I ask your experience please of the gold plate or gold vermeil… does it wear off?

I love the look of Orelia necklaces but have never managed to find a gold plated item that doesn’t fade. It’s been a while
since I’ve bought (for this reason) - hoping things have improved.

OneFrenchEgg · 20/10/2022 10:56

I have found that it lasts really well. The earrings do irritate my ears and I have found they can break but necklaces have been lovely

Thanks @OneFrenchEgg - is that no tarnishing or loss of gold plate at all for the necklaces?

I’m the same with earrings and can only wear titanium nowadays.

OneFrenchEgg · 20/10/2022 12:44

No discernible change to appearance over the last couple of years.

Flyinggeesei234 · 20/10/2022 14:46

Thanks again @OneFrenchEgg this is good but dangerous (£) news!

OneFrenchEgg · 20/10/2022 14:51

Grin it's really nice stuff .

nomistake · 20/10/2022 16:10

If you look at the Orelia Luxe range it's sterling based, I find the pieces I've had have been really long lasting and haven't tarnished

Flyinggeesei234 · 20/10/2022 18:58

Thanks @nomistake.

Flyinggeesei234 · 20/10/2022 19:08

The necklace you linked to OP us so lovely, unhelpfully I don’t have a better suggestion.

Have you had any luck?

Vermeil is much better quality, superior to plated. Orelia are great also Aleyole but the postage is quite high as they’re Spanish. I love Astley Clarke but pricey, all their stuff is vermeil. Astrid and Miyu as well

Seol+Gold is very good and good value. They have a real store in London if it’s local to you, but also sell online. Wry good customer service if something is not right too.
