Shoes for 15 year old awards do

DD (15) is going to an awards do next week - just a local thing in a hotel - her hockey team have been nominated. She's freaking out slightly because some of the girls are wearing full on dresses and heels which isn't her normal style. She has two black dresses, either of which would be appropriate (one floaty, one tight, both knee length) but no idea what to do about shoes. She lives in trainers and DMs. Every flat black shoe I've shown her "looks like a school shoe".

I also don't want to spend loads of money.

Any ideas? She's also got small feet - 2.5/3. She's only 5'2" so if her friends are in heels, she'll look even smaller than normal but not sure how she'd cope with heels.

Get her some heels if she will wear them. If she wants flats they will probably all look like school shoes to her but she could always she can go gold or silver or bright. Or a dress and sms could be cool!

Does she want to fit in or be edgy?

Not like school shoes

Really 15 year olds in heels? All the 13-17 year olds I know wear trainers (at the moment it's those platform converse hi tops) or the thick soles doc martens with their body con dresses/ball gowns etc,

If her feet have stopped growing then some low heels that she can wear for formal stuff might be an investment? I certainly wore the ones DM bought me at that age to job interviews and parties etc for years.

We had an awards do recently with lots of teenage girls. Quite a lot wearing converse high tops or Doc Martins with their dresses.

Thanks everyone. She's between DMs at the minute and didn't feel comfortable wearing them anyway. It seems most of the other girls are wearing heels.

So, we popped out to Primark last night and she got a pair of strappy low heels (quite a blocky heel) in purple which she's able to walk in. They were reduced to a fiver too!

She tried them on with the dress and she looked amazing! So, she's really happy. I don't wear heels myself (dodgy ankles) so I think I was projecting a bit.

Vans or Docs. My 16yo DD (5’1”) went to prom in Docs and most of the other girls wore flats of some description. Unless she really wants heels I’d spend the money on great shoes she could wear day to day.

Sorry - cross post - hope shechas a lovely evening!

I'm also not convinced her feet have stopped growing as she's only just become a 3.
