Nail ridges when you can't wear polish?

I absolutely hate my ridged nails, they make my hands look so old (I'm 50). I used to wear polish which disguised the ridges but I developed an allergy to either the polish or the remover (I tried acetone free, no better) which made my nails separate from the nail beds painfully, so now I can't wear polish. There are polishes that claim to be gentle and free of nasty chemicals but they still need remover to get them off when they chip.

I used to buff them with a battery powered thingy but the ridges are so deep now that it doesn't have such a good effect and I'm worried about making my nails thin and weak from over-sanding so I stopped. I tried massaging nail cream into them every night but this made no difference to the ridges.

Is there anything else I can try? Sad

Dior Nail Glow is very good-I have ridges too. It’s a no varnish look varnish and seems to add a healthy glow which diffuses the ridges. I often don’t bother removing it as when it’s old as it’s so subtle it doesn’t look chipped.

I would love to try Dior nail glow and see if it causes an allergic reaction but it's too expensive, if only they did a little trial bottle!

I have been using revlon multicare and it's made a big difference, my nails are much less ridged, have stopped peeling and feel stronger.
Like subaxeo I don't often remove it, just add another layer.
If you can't tolerate it then I would just concentrate on applying handcream and nail oil and a supplement with biotin in.

I swear by Dior apricot nail cream. I've been using it daily for a few months, and my nails have never been stronger/healthier! I don't bother with nail polish now

Can you try any testers at the counter?

Have you tried coconut oil? The pure one in a jar from the cooking oil section. I put in on when I am having a nail polish break.
