New perfume after years of CK One!

I’ve been wearing CK One since my teens. I got bought bottles as gifts and I have finally run out. I would like to get something newer but sort of similar. I don’t like floral stuff. I did try Si which I liked but it’s so expensive! Any suggestions?

I have no idea, as am stuck in Daisy and want a fresher change. I want to see what is suggested for you 🤣

ThePontiacBandit · 13/10/2022 07:55

Good to know it’s not just me stuck in a rut!

I really like Dolce & Gabbana's The Only One and it's usually not too expensive for a 30ml bottle. www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Dolce-Gabbana/The-Only-One-51249.html

Ariana Grande's Cloud is cheaper and smells delicious but is quite a bit sweeter than the D&G www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Ariana-Grande/Cloud-50384.html

Blue by DnG? Fresh in the same vein and timeless.

h78 · 13/10/2022 08:13

Ralph Lauren woman is a lovely musky smell and not too pricey. Another one that smells amazing is Rihanna Reb'l Fleur.

PAFMO · 13/10/2022 08:16

If you love CK1 then you like fresh, neutral light perfumes.

The Chanel Eaux are all lovely and subtle. My favourite is Paris-Deauville and DD has Paris-Biarritz.

One of the Jo Malone's might suit. There are loads and they are very simple in terms of notes. (disclaimer: I like the smells, I begrudge the overpricing and over packaging and the fact they last as long as a gnat's piss and 15 women out of 20 "always get compliments when I wear my pomegranate noir") my tip- go and sniff them then find something with similar names/notes elsewhere. M&S have great ranges of similar perfumes with similar notes for less than £20.

Speaking of M&S, the Monotheme range is fab- I have a couple of theirs, Agrumi di Sicilia (neroli based) and Mediterranean Coast (ozone, salty, woody) both light and fresh but not sweet.

Agree re Light Blue by D&G and would add Clinique Happy, Noa by Cacharel etc.

MissBattleaxe · 13/10/2022 08:19

If you want something in the same vein then you're looking for a citrussy/tea scent with an overall fresh feel rather than a deep musky floral or a gourmand.

@weaselwords rightly says Daisy is fresh, and you both want a change so maybe the two of you could swap places? 😊

Try something like JLo Glow which smells like freshly shampooed hair after a soapy shower. A Drop D'Issey by Issey Miyake is fresh and clean as well, as is Philosophy Amazing Grace or Cacharel Noa.

All are reasonably priced and definitely cheaper than Armani/ D&G

Hesperides is the word I was looking for! These include O de Lancome, Clarins Eau Dynamisante, or anything from L'Occitane that says verbena on it. Also, you could try Avon Eve Truth.

MissBattleaxe · 13/10/2022 08:22

@PAFMO is right about M&S and Monotheme. Great ranges there and very affordable.

Rina66 · 13/10/2022 09:01

Molecule 01 is fresh and interesting

J0y · 13/10/2022 09:03

I love ck one, it's one I keep going back to.

I love chanel cristalle
I hate anything too fruity or sweet or musky.

ouch321 · 13/10/2022 09:10

So you've worn only that one perfume for 10 or 20 years daily? Wow. I'd have got bored of it.

I keep a 'wardrobe' of different scents, about 10 to 15, and pick one depending on my mood, the time of day and the occasion, and my attire.

Sophie1980 · 13/10/2022 09:18

There was a comment on a thread, months ago about a younger woman trying her boyfriends after shave. I have worn Aramis on a night in crowded music pub.
No comments from anyone. I guess OK. Could try again.
Polo is too flowery for my bloke.

Mydogatemypurse · 13/10/2022 09:22

You would like D and G light blue and armarni elle.
Just to let you know Revolution do an exact dupe for Si for £10 for a 80ml bottle. My friend wears it. She keeps the real stuff for best and uses revolution for work. X

This is such a Mumsnetty response, I can't tell if you're joking or not... 😂

I agree, Aqua di Gio is lovely. It's fresh and quite unisex in a similar way to CK One.

Thanks for all the advice! I’ll make a list and pop to Boots. Will also try the knock off Si!

ouch321 no not exclusively! I’ve tried others like Cool water, the CK in 2u, but I never found anything that suited me like CK one. Also I’m autistic so when I find something I like, yeah, I stick with it! 🙂 Also I found some perfumes I tried were too heady and gave me a headache. I did a spritz of the Si out shopping and kept it on for the night out and liked it but it’s a gamble to spend a lot of money on something I won’t feel happy to wear long term.

So I’m now a single parent and my STBXH loved the CK one on me..now I want something new and I’m on a budget!

Burberry weekend for men is lovely not masculine, but not fruity, floral or sweet

Iamanunsafebuilding · 13/10/2022 11:43

Bit of a hijack sorry, but does anyone know a dupe for MAC Velvet Teddy? It's my DD's favourite and smells amazing on her but MAC have discontinued it 🙁

Wilburisagirl · 13/10/2022 11:57

I used to like CK one. Now I love L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake.

MissBattleaxe · 13/10/2022 12:33

@Iamanunsafebuilding Here's the link ot the Fragrantioca page. If you scroll down you'll see what users have voted for that smells similar www.fragrantica.com/perfume/MAC/Velvet-Teddy-42254.html
