Recommend a high street body moisturiser?

Looking for a good body moisturiser that sinks in and leaves my skin velvety rather than greasy. Like that feeling when you've just shaved your legs.

I bought a tube of Dove pro-age and it's left a film on my skin which isn't nice under clothes and makes my skin feel tacky rather than soft. I hate throwing things out so I'm sure I'll end up keeping it in a drawer and using it once in a blue moon for the next few years until it's gone. To save me from a drawer full of half used cosmetics, which one would you recommend? My skin is mostly average, a little dry in patches but never tight or painfully dry.

I had this with almost every body moisturiser then I found Dove Silk in a round pot and I haven't been able to find it for months! It was divine. Legs and arms literally felt like silk.

Palmers cocoa butter makes me gag 🤢

Nivea lotion in the blue bottle

Rituals Sakura body cream. Even better if you use the sakura body scrub first. Skin is so soft all day.

Oh I do love the smell of Palmers and DH always compliments me on how delicious I smell. Though I know it's divisive so it's a bedtime moisturiser, not a daytime one. I did have the lily and damask rose from the sanctuary which was lovely and did make my skin soft rather than squeaky. It's just a shame that I rarely go near our boots which is in the town centre. I tend to pick things up in Sainsburys or order much more expensive things on line.

I don' like the smell of Palmer's either. It's very artificial and cloying. Not tried the unscented one.

Ameliorate transforming body lotion, in Boots or better value large sizes online, leaves my skin soft and smooth. Prevents chicken skin and ingrown hairs. It’s not cheap but a large bottle lasts absolutely ages as a small amount goes a long way.

Coconut oil from the grocery isle, cheap, light oil that sinks in. Job done

Nivea moisturising lotion for dry skin -Ive been using it for years and love the way it sinks in to your skin.

PomRuns · 11/10/2022 22:28

Garnier in the green bottle.

Another vote for Palmer's Cocoa Butter

Nivea body lotion, the one in the dark blue bottle. I’ve tried lots of more expensive ones, the last one being Clarins.
They are either too greasy, take an age to rub in or make my legs itch, Rituals was awful for that.
I’ve decided to just stick with Nivea from now on.

The Garnier red one is great -

Neutrogena Hydro Boost body lotion is about £4 and bloody fantastic. As good as my Dermalogica body lotion which is 8x the price.

Was going to suggest this one

RealDeeBliss · 12/10/2022 14:17

Ceravee or Body Shop Body Butter if you are a BS fan

Figrolls14 · 12/10/2022 14:36

I ❤️ Palmers
plus the tummy butter one has saved my elderly face for the last near-decade. It’s full of collagen

mandolinwind · 12/10/2022 15:15

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (often on offer in supermarkets, Superdrug etc). Particularly good for softening rough heels and soles but use everywhere.

NeedWineNow · 12/10/2022 16:14

My go to is Garnier Intensive 7 Days Aloe Vera. I also love the Le Petit Marseilles Bio Aloe Vera body lotion but only get that when I have to make a bulk order as the postage is quite spendy.

The Superdrug Vitamin E cream in the big pot gets my vote as well.

Ultimate luxury one which goes on my Xmas list is Molton Brown with matching shower gel.
