Musty smell in new leather handbag

I have just purchased a new leather handbag that I love.
It is a crossover style and the leather is quite soft so slightly baggy in the top which I like.
My issue is it has a very strong leather smell which I didn't notice when I was buying it. I got it from a homewares shop with lots of candles etc so a lot of other scents going on.
it wasn't until I got home I noticed it.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the smell.
It is not offensive, just smells old if that makes sense.
I've left it outside for a while to air but don't think that's enough.

I would stuff it with newspaper/newsprint and switch it out with new paper once a day for three days. It's brilliant at absorbing odours.

Oh good idea. Thankyou.

A generous sprinkling of bicarbonate will do the trick.

Yes, bicarb will sort it out.

Do I just sprinkle bicarbonate on it and leave it for a bit and wipe off?
What is the process, also would it affect the leather?
