K18 - Gamechanger solution to frizzy hair issues!

After years battling frizzy hair, my hairdresser recommended K18, a leave in conditioner. You shampoo hair as normal then towel dry and rub in a small amount of the k18. Leave to act for 4 mins then blow-dry as normal. I've been using for a couple of weeks and the difference in my hair is amazing! Always had a halo of frizz above my thick curly hair but now it's looking sleek and shiny. Love that it leaves your hair feeling clean too, not laden down with product. Anyone else tried it..?

I did. My hair did have a lot less frizz and was looking better. But I stopped because it is expensive and I wasn't sure if you could use styling products afterwards.

I am thinking of trying olaplex and was wondering how they campare.

Yes! This stuff is miraculous.
My 7 year old daughter has got hair down to her bum which was in awful condition when we got back from holiday and it’d had two weeks of sun, sea and pool water, I could hardly get a brush through it, it was like straw.
My hairdresser recommended this and whilst I will confess to nearly having had a heart attack at the price of it, her hair was back to normal after only one use. I’ve used it on my hair too and it’s amazing how soft it feels afterwards.

Yes it is blooming expensive but I was at my wits end with the frizz, you only need a small amount each time and I'm washing my hair less as it just feels so clean and soft! Glad you've had success @QueenWenceslas .

I've been using it for the last month and frizz has definitely calmed down. I bought it from Beauty Bay, it was expensive but a lot cheaper than Cult Beauty.

Yes I got some on recommendation of my hairdresser. My hair isn't frizzy as such, but dry from colouring and hairdrying and I had a lot of breakage around my hairline. It is now in much better condition, and breakage seems to have stopped.

I saw this a while ago but wasn't sure if it was just another over hyped product so this is good to hear.

Does it help with frizz caused by humidity? My hair is fine after being blow dried but frizzes up with the slightest moisture.

This is my problem too.

I tried it and it did nothing for me ☹️

AuntSalli · 08/10/2022 10:49

I’ve got quite a lot of the OlaPlex products the four in one and the number 8 deep conditioner has anybody tried both brands ? do we know how they compare haven’t been overly impressed with the olaPlex but then equally you never know how but it might of been without them do you.

UpToonGirl · 08/10/2022 11:13

@QueenWenceslas I haven't tried that one yet...on the list it goes!

stemthetide · 11/10/2022 17:11

I’ve just started trying this - my hair felt and looked better yesterday after I used it for the first time but it’s as frizzy as ever today.
I’ll persevere and hope it works better after a few applications. I have very fine, very curly hair.

Shitfather · 12/10/2022 07:55

Please could you tell us the name of the product? There seem to be a few. I’d love to try it.

stemthetide · 12/10/2022 10:03

I’m assuming the OP was referring to K18 molecular leave-in repair mask. As it’s expensive and I don’t want to waste too much money if it doesn’t work I bought the tiny tube from Amazon. (It’s cheaper than on the K 18 website).

You have to follow the instructions so check them out on the website or on YouTube.

follyfeet · 15/10/2022 15:48

the funny thing is in the before and after pictures they looked better before. Like natural, textured, healthy hair.

in the after shits they look like an oil slick was poured over them. I'll stick with witchcraft Grin

follyfeet · 15/10/2022 15:49

shots, lol.

Alarm59 · 16/10/2022 22:50

I tried the sample sized today and I am sold, I just bought the professional sized one from Amazon because the retail one is a third of the size for a tenner less

I honestly can’t abide not putting conditioner in my hair, I thought my hair would feel horrific. I use a Kerastase mask, always. But I’m stunned. No frizz. Easy to manage. My hair had just been bleached too, but I blow dried and couldn’t believe what it looked like.

I was never sold on Olaplex , it felt a bit snake oil to me but it’s easy to say that when you don’t feel the results, as it works on the inside. Olaplex lost my vote when they created the retail products from number 4-9. They are all heavily diluted versions of the salon product , and only really work at its best if you’ve had number 1/2, it feels a bit of a piss take for them not to push that message out and just rake in the money from the hype.

stemthetide · 17/10/2022 08:52

It's gradually really improving my hair. That's four applications now. I'm old and my hair is very frizzy and curly so it will never look as if an oil slick has been poured over! If it can just look healthy I'll be thrilled.

Having tried and failed with so many products I'm very hopeful about this one.
