Skincare at Duane Reade?

LoupsGarous · 06/10/2022 12:54

Hi all,
I’m in NYC for work and while I literally have five free seconds before I fly out again, is there any skincare item I should stock up on or experiment with while I’m here? I’m unlikely to have time to go elsewhere, but there’s a Duane Reade across the street from my hotel.

Thank you!

Best thing in Duane reade isn't skincare imo it's Kirby grips which are curved to fit your head. Genius. Also like them for OPI and exotic flavour M&Ms.

LoupsGarous · 06/10/2022 14:03

I shall go in and poke about. Head-shaped Kirby grips actually sound enticing…

Never mind the beauty stuff go and stick up on the multitude of different types of Reese's pieces.

soupmaker · 06/10/2022 14:09

*stock

Oh, yes, and M&Ms!

stick deodorants as hard to get here (dove cucumber i love).

a trawl down the makeup and hair products aisle - maybelline often seem to have stuff not available here. Covergirl, wet'n'wild etc etc.

antibiotic cream, anti histamine, aleve and possibly benadryl.

vitamin gummies if that's your thing

crest white strips

um.

for a country that seems to thrive on getting professionally done nails, they usu have great nail products in the great DR.

I am JEALOUS.

Iheartgeraniums · 06/10/2022 14:23

I have just written a very, VERY innocent post about cucumber dove deodorant and vitamins, so @mnhq how have i sparked the autohide?! Sorry!

😂
Theres a poster obsessed with us being mind controlled through something in the water. Maybe MNHQ have an auto hide for anything mentioning vitamins.

Iheartgeraniums · 06/10/2022 14:49

Well I actually wrote vitamin gummies but maybe they thought i meant those OTHER KIND OF GUMMIES?! #justsaynoOP

Iheartgeraniums · 06/10/2022 14:50

OMG I just wrote a post saying haha maybe it's because I said the word gum ending in mies and that's it!

WHO KNEW?!

OldYork · 06/10/2022 18:39

Motrin

Peridot1 · 06/10/2022 18:43

NyQuil - great for colds and flu.

Physician’s Formula Matcha cleansing balm

cant think of anything else but I love a Duane Reade mooch.

haribonoyoudont · 06/10/2022 20:57

Melatonin!

SavingsThreads · 06/10/2022 21:45

Snacks. Usa pharmacy's have enormous
Amounts of snacks.

And plasters (bandaids). So much better than U.K. ones for some reason

SecretVictoria · 06/10/2022 21:49

Lifesaver gummy sweets (wild berries are best!).

As pp said; Maybelline, Wet an’ Wild. They also have American Crew hair products.

VeronicaBeccabunga · 06/10/2022 22:01

They have good travel/motion sickness medication called Dramamine, which is also very good for putting you to sleep on a long flight.
Gave my teenage son one on the ground at JFK, he was out sparko before we took off and had to be woken up at Heathrow.
Not sold here OTC.

HundredMilesAnHour · 06/10/2022 22:13

Secrets stick deodorant - way better than anything we have in the UK

Nyquil for colds, Zzzquil for sleeping

Benadryl - also great for sleep problems

Glide Deep Clean dental floss

Time release melatonin (I like the Natrol brand)

This reply has been hidden until the MNHQ team can have a look at it.

LoupsGarous · 07/10/2022 01:46

Ah, mine has also been hidden, I suspect for the same (puzzling) reason because I referenced @Iheartgeraniums’s post! All it said was thanks to everyone!
