Coat to wear with this dress?

Struggling with this one. Wearing this dress for an event soon and I'm really struggling to choose a coat to match. It's a special but slightly more relaxed event so doesn't have to be super formal looking. It will be chilly so I'll definitely need a coat!

-Cropped beige fur doesn't quite look right.
-Biker jacket looks good shape wise but is black and I don't like that with the pink.
-Long wool navy coat looks a bit dowdy an edgy dress.
-Sequin bomber jackets in various colours aren't doing it for me and won't be warm enough anyway.

If any other ideas jump out at you I'd love to hear them xx

No hope I don't think! Thermals under?

Tonkerbea · 01/10/2022 20:07

I can only see an ankle length coat working with this, perhaps in an emerald green. It strikes me as a very hard dress to style. Is your heart set on wearing it?

thenorthsea · 01/10/2022 20:09

The only possible option would be an ankle length oversized number but then it would ruin the point of the dress. Save it for spring and wear something else

BirdinaHedge · 01/10/2022 20:09

It's not really a dress you can wear a coat over, unless you had a big long swing back coat at least the length of the dress. Or a cloak, or something that matches the unconstructed hippy dippy nature of the dress.

(I'd start with another dress but I guess we just have wildly different taste ...)

Joe Browns has some options.

I'd go with the teddy fur coat and be warm.

OnaBegonia · 01/10/2022 21:06

A dressing gown?
I don't think it's a dress that any coat will 'go' with.

nzeire · 01/10/2022 21:11

I love this dress!!!! Gorgeous! Where from?

PaperBlinds · 01/10/2022 21:12

Would a long duster in black or camel work? They are less structured and drapey.

The other thing totally in the opposite direction would be an oversized blazer - but possibly nor warm enough.

nzeire · 01/10/2022 21:12

Oh, and long drapery coat

dudsville · 01/10/2022 21:14

I think the dress is great, but I think it will stop looking like a dress under the wrong kind of coat. It's tricky. An oversized cocoon shaped coat? What shoes are you wearing?

catfunk · 01/10/2022 21:35

It's H&M @nzeire this summer

@PaperBlinds I've ordered a duster coat and a long fur coat from vinted.
Shoes are royal blue - tried a few options and they look great with the pink. Hence not wanting to wear a black leather jacket

shoes sound fab!

PaperBlinds · 01/10/2022 22:09

A blue or dark green duster will look fab. I get not wanting to do the black biker jacket, but it's a good one with boots for a less dressy occasion.
