Easy to wear dresses that go with tights?

As title says…I’m looking for some dresses that are easy to throw on with a pair of tights. Money is tight so ideally some that can be dressed up or down for work and then weekends etc.

My DS is nearly 2 and I still have no idea how to dress my post baby body (which has not returned to pre baby shape). I’m wide in the back, large bust and have a small c section tummy which I’m self conscious about. Small bum and legs.

I’ve done a few asos shops of various dresses but nothing looks right. I think the problem is I really do not know what style of clothing works on me anymore, despite trying lots of different things.

Any suggestions would be great Thankyou ☺️

I LOVE the Hush Emanuelle dresses, I have six in different prints and am eying up the plain black one they have currently. So easy for autumn/winter dressing with tights and ankle boots and a denim or leather jacket!

I've just bought a lovely dress from matalan. I'll try and find a link.

I'm not sure they fit with "money is tight" though! But they are nice.

This is the green one www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2932643_c211/green-animal-print-midi-dress-green

This is exactly the same and you can see the dress design better on this one www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2934524_c47q/et-vous-monochrome-geo-print-midi-dress-black

Hi all

I love a light summer dress , layered with footless leggings and a cardy is nice in this changeable weather

I've been searching online for this all week and can I find anything, no! I just want a nice mini dress in autumnal colours to wear with tights and chunky books. Everything seems to be midi/ maxi length!

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 30/09/2022 20:28

There's some nice dresses on Vinted. I've just searched shirt dresses and midi dresses and seen a few I've got my eye on!

PanPacificBallroomChampion · 30/09/2022 20:30

They have some nice dresses online at Joanie Clothing

I have had a couple from Dorothy Perkins recently, and have a few more in my basket.

I don't know what height you are, but they seem to be increasing their petite range.

Houseplantmad · 30/09/2022 20:50

Another vote for Vinted - a low cost low risk way of trying out different styles until you fine what suits.

Unicorn34 · 30/09/2022 20:58

I like Roman for dresses to wear with tights and biker boots

Everylittlethingsgonnabealright · 30/09/2022 20:59

If you’ve large bust I’d look for something with an open neck.

what’s your budget?

Saw a nice one in Joules today about £55 - www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Gee/Button-Down-Tiered-Dress?size=10&id=221158|BURGLEOP|10

and this in the sale for £35 - www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Vivian/Midi-Jersey-Wrap-Dress?size=10&id=219650|GRENFLRL|10

I love nobody’s child for dresses - www.nobodyschild.com/dresses/purple-dahlia-ditsy-black-petite-serena-long-sleeve-mini-dress.html

I also find the Ghost x M&S dresses cut in a really flattering way, particularly those with a shirred bust because they’ll fit nicely whatever your bust and then be floaty to skim anything you don’t want to highlight!

Finally Sainsbury’s always has nice dresses that are more affordable!

I lived in shirred over summer. So easy to wear.

Peacocks is your friend here. Dresses less than £20 and they fit quite well. www.peacocks.co.uk/4304228-green-abstract.html

I had a beautiful dress from nobody's child, but every time I washed it following the instructions it shrunk, so it's put me off buying another dress from them,

Nejnej2 · 30/09/2022 21:59

I love Popsy dresses - particularly because they have pockets! Theres lots of pics on the website of real people wearing them, and she styles a lot with tights. I love them because they're perfect for work and casual!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 30/09/2022 22:06

I got this today, looks good with tights and boots but also with sandals

I second Popsy. Popsy dresses are the go to for smart casual where I work
