Wedding dress guest - RIXO - another one!

👋 hi hi
I'm late 40s, tall (just under (5 11), slim 10-12. Invited to a city wedding in October, so excited!

But my dresses for weddings are a bit summery. (Ages since I've been to a wedding!) I just do not know where to start. I will head into JL on the weekend for a bit of "trying on" and inspiration.

I love this - rixo.co.uk/collections/dresses/products/corrine-juniper-star-sequin

But someone told me it's a bit Bollywood?? I have gold shoes and accessories to pull it off. What do you think?

Would love to get my dress juices flowing, any ideas anyone - other dresses, brands to try?!

Sorry I was working yesterday and couldn't fully explore all the suggestions. I am loving that gold dress so I'm going for a rummage on that website. I like that glamour look! Will come back when I'm caught up! X

Folkster have some lovely dresses. Although I've never worn one myself, yet.

They have really pretty belts too.

Isabelle70 · 01/10/2022 08:45

On Instagram Fleurdeforce rented some dresses from Hurr and she had a lovely one from Mrselfportrait and a similar build I would say

DisforDarkChocolate · 01/10/2022 08:48

Honestly, I'd go with racist.

Lovely dress. My only concern would be having something suitable for being warm enough in the church if there is one.

Stokey · 01/10/2022 09:02

I love Rixo but don't think that's a "typical" Rixo dress, it is a bit Monsoon for me. If I was to buy Rixo, I'd want one that looked like them with their mixed patterns or more Boho feel.

NevieSticks · 01/10/2022 09:41

It has an ethnic vibe to it as it's not particularly " fashionable". You could find similar in Asos or as others said Monsoon.

HerRoyalNotness · 01/10/2022 09:43

I like it until I saw the bow. I wonder if you could get it adjusted to remove that

Duvetdweller · 01/10/2022 09:51

I always think Rixo is overpriced - the ones I’ve tried haven’t even been lined! Have you got a selfridges nearby? They have lots of interesting brands

MandaLynn · 01/10/2022 09:52

The Bollywood comment is bullshit.

But that said, I don't love the dress. It doesn't really seem right for an Autumn/City Wedding.

How about these?

Hi can I throw this one from Anthropology into the mix? I know it's dark but has lovely autumn colours in it.

@MandaLynn

This was actually my first choice

But! -
It also has a bow, and when you see the back photos the belt is not on, and I think the belt makes it stunning (and more pricey) and I wonder if it's messy looking /how do you actually manage the bow and a belt

I know what you mean. It's the clashing patterns and at odds colours that I love too.

Just had a proper look at Rixo. Lovely dresses, but why do they seem to want to ruin the whole look with a ridiculous neck accessory most of the time?

Penguinsaregreat · 01/10/2022 15:35

My favourite is the one Cakey posted that ha beautiful. Second Is the 2nd green one.

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 01/10/2022 15:54

Just so pretty! Love it. I’m just lucky the navy version is out of stock as I’d have to buy it and create an occasion to wear it.

(I don’t even know what your friend means btw)

BasiliskStare · 01/10/2022 16:02

For an autumn wedding I reckon during the day a throw / shawl / shrug or similar to keep you warm during the day would cover up any bare back or bows. During the evening ( if there is one ) anything would go in my book. Certainly in green or other colours.

Good luck

The pretty dress company has some beautiful dresses. I've bought a few from there and they're great quality. I also love oh hello clothing for formal dresses.

Rachel123z · 22/10/2022 14:30

This company has lovely dresses

Not that keen on the dress in the OP, reminds me too much of a bridesmaid dress my DD wore.

Love this one!

Love the second Rixo

Notarealmum · 26/10/2022 09:47

Love your first choice Rixo, OP. But not that belt (why, when it has the tie waist?)! So much classier without it.
