Hush pink cardigan - to buy or dupe?!

Kath544 · 28/09/2022 08:42

I love this slightly cropped pink cardigan but not sure I can justify £90! Is this how much decent quality knitwear costs these days?!

has anyone seen anything similar before I (unnecessarily) splurge? TIA

I wouldnt spend 90 on an acrylic mix cardigan. I think decent quality AND fashionable knitwear costs more than 90. You can get pure wool cheaper. You can get ok quality fashionable knitwear cheaper.

I havent seen anything like that (thought j haven't looked much this year), so if you really like jt you will have to bite the bullet.

Jigsaw have nicer cards with cashmere no acrylic, I love hush but the pricing is weird

Borracha · 28/09/2022 08:54

Honestly, I wouldn't describe their knitwear as decent quality, so I wouldn't spend 90 quid on it. I've had great stuff from there before which has washed well and I've been happy with, but I've never had a good experience with their knitwear.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/09/2022 09:01

Other Stories usually have something like this.

Clymene · 28/09/2022 09:02

Nothing Hush makes is good quality. It's okay but it's not worth that

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/09/2022 09:07

They haven’t got pink, but they’ve got some lovely knitwear

Hush is terrible quality and very cheap looking. It’s a shame as the styles are quite nice.

Aworldofmyown · 28/09/2022 09:16

Everything I have ever bought from Hush has lasted really well 🤔

However I would probably try and find an alternative for that cardi. M&S had some good ones, have you tried Oliver Bonas?

ageingdisgracefully · 28/09/2022 09:18

I saw the very same cardi in my local branch. I too was tempted...

I agree though with those who question the quality of Hush knitwear - it's pretty rubbish for the price ime. Some time ago bought a long cardi - great styling - which literally fell apart on the first wear. I got my money back but I was so disappointed as I loved it.

kegofcoffee · 28/09/2022 09:23

If you're willing to compromise on colour slightly then Woolovers have options around the £50 mark that are either cotton/silk mix or wool/cashmere mix.

They do also have a bright pink but its not available in v-neck, only crew neck.

One thing I would say, is the model photos of the Hush one are very styled up; rolled up sleeves, larger size, tucked in. Try not to be fooled by that, it's pretty much just a standard non-fitted v-neck cardi that you could buy in a lot of places.

tresleches · 28/09/2022 09:47

For £90 you can buy cashmere or merino, why buy acrylic? It's sweaty, bad for the environment, and probably cost £5 to make

Good point about the styling. It's always a slight disappointment when buying a product doesn't make me look lime the model, with her hair done, in perfect lighting and the at the right angle 🤣🤣🤣

39% Wool, 40% Acrylic, 16% Polyamide, 5% Elastane

I wouldn't buy it. Hush is poor quality. Especially the knitwear

£30 from John Lewis - Anyday

Looks exactly like the acrylic pink cardigan H&M have in store at the moment. Right down to the buttons.

ZealAndArdour · 28/09/2022 14:09

There’s a lot of synthetics in that for the price! I wouldn’t buy it for that money. You could get a similar blend cardigan from a supermarket or M&S for less money, but I understand it is a really beautiful unique colour. However that pink seems like it’s going to be huge this season so maybe it’s a case of waiting it out for a better price or a better quality blend.

I’ve seen this pink in new season stuff in both Mango and Boden.

ageingdisgracefully · 28/09/2022 14:16

Yes there's loads of that pink about. I had a look at that H and M one linked by a PP. Bought it😀

Kath544 · 28/09/2022 15:29

Thank you hive mind! You have saved me spending £££ on acrylic! Off to H&M failing that the John Lewis one is close enough. Thanks again!

Primark has this one (it's in yellow)

They also have this one in pink but it's round neck not v-neck:

or there is this one but it's a cable knit (it is pink and it is v-neck):

lindyloo57 · 28/09/2022 17:38

I don't like john lewis anyday clothing, I know they are cheaper, but when I took a look, it's no better than h&m, but more expensive.

Heatherbell1978 · 28/09/2022 18:01

I have the H&M one in 3 colours including that one. Friend has the John Lewis one which I have to say is lovely and I wish I'd seen it first!! I do have a couple of Hush cardigans and do regret the amount I spent on them I have to admit..
