I've bought a few things, like a Kerastase set that was perfect and a L'occitane set that was great too. I'm guessing these were unwanted gifts.

I've also bought some Rituals handcream that smelled a bit off - I think it was quite old. And I bought some face oil that was described as unopened but when I received it there seemed to be some missing and the packaging was a bit grubby.

I guess I worry about

...worry about how hygienic it is but on the other hand it's hard to resist a bargain.

No

No quite a lot of its stolen, you can tell from the quantity for starters. One item per person might be an unwanted gift, 5 lipsticks not so much. That's without getting into the quality issue! My teens don't, they buy second hand clothing.

I’ve bought foundation off sellers with over 7 good reviews and lots of photos but I wouldn’t buy anything else . It’s strange when you see someone selling vast amounts of premium beauty products all marked as new without tags can anyone suggest if there’s a non dodgy reason for that ?

I know there are a lot of issues with counterfeit makeup as well, I watched a documentary about it. I think I'm going to stop, or else just be extremely selective about it.

I buy stuff that has obviously come from advent calendars or beauty boxes, such as travel size items from higher-end more niche brands. Only ever bought new in box, unopened items, maybe I have been lucky?

Usually I buy these as smaller items from sellers who have bundle discounts as it effectively means I get the item more or less free

Catslovepies · 27/09/2022 21:01

That sounds a good approach ShangPie. I've sold small items from advent calendars myself.

I have bought plenty from Vinted and never had a problem they are brands I’ve bought before So I would know the difference if they were counterfeit, but never had an issue
