Beauty advent 22 part 2 (massive spoilers)

Zeeza · 23/09/2022 06:25

I don't know the etiquette of starting a runover of someone else's thread. I hope this is OK.

Reminder advent22 gives a hand-wash and handcream free gift on space nk.

I bought it, but now I have alight regret. I should have held out to see what harrods had.

The CEO cream wasn't 5oz as had been trailed on many calendar sites, but 0.5oz, 15ml. 5oz would have been a ridiculous size so that makes sense.

I often go into Kiko when I’m in Spain or Portugal. It’s (in my opinion) a cheap dupe of Mac. I’m not sneering at it btw, I buy it and quite like it, but it’s definitely a budget brand

Talisin · 08/10/2022 08:47

Ooh, it had not occurred to me that Kiko would have a calendar. There’s one close to work I sometimes have a wander round. I have acquired a few of their limited Christmas lipsticks over the years so I’ll def keep an eye out for that.

Zeeza · 08/10/2022 08:58

@redredwineub40 oh that's good. I'd not heard of it before

@TheDuchessOfMN it'd have to be a budget brand, a 25 drawer calendar for £50 is two pounds an item lols. Really good value. Budget isn't an insult I think. Its nice to have the heavy metal cases etc but maybe not if items costs 20 times more.

@femmm - with £50, I'd be tempted by the Cohorted calendar but it's only 12 days.

If I could stretch to £72 (use new customer code to get 15% off £85 - partner or new email if already customer) I'd get the ASOS one.

TheDuchessOfMN · 08/10/2022 09:44

@Zeeza well that’s true, I didn’t realise it was only £50.

I still haven’t ordered any. I’m hoping they will start to be reduced soon.

bewarethetides · 08/10/2022 09:49

For £50 budget, I'd consider M&S and return the £30 required purchase or buy essentials you'd be buying anyway for family members (socks, pants, etc)

Kiko looks pretty for £40.

And I think discounts are coming. So many of the normal instant sell outs were offering significant %s off on Day 1 this year (Liberty, 20% via cashback; Space NK, 15% via code, John Lewis, £10 or £15 off offers, etc), and others have already blinked and are throwing in extras (LF, with the addition of a free beauty bundle with code, etc).

My Liberty calendar arrived yesterday. It's beautiful. I'm excited. I'm never had one at that level and can't wait for December. But it was the 20% cashback that swung me, I'll freely admit, over a couple of others. If I do buy another one, it will be M&S since I usually use everything in it so good value for me, or Lumene if it goes to heavy discount, since I'll use all of it.

bewarethetides · 08/10/2022 10:04

I see the Fenwick Calendar has finally gone on sale. I've enjoyed it in previous years. The box is beautiful this year, but they've jacked the price up by about £50 and it's all 'minis'. They even use the phrase '25 mini treats' in the description. At that price, I'd expect better sizes throughout a significant percentage of the box like the other high end calendars in that price range.

And no real discounts on the price either yet, other than potentially 10% off for 'new customers', which I wouldn't have been as I've bought one in previous years, or a measly 6% via topcashback.

Couldn't justify it this year in comparison with the rest, hence the LIberty purchase with mostly full sizes and only £5 more with the 20% cashback.

TheDuchessOfMN · 08/10/2022 10:06

I didn’t know there was a code for a reduction of Space NK 😬

SilverLiningPlaybook · 08/10/2022 10:13

What is it?

TheDuchessOfMN · 08/10/2022 10:14

I was responding to @bewarethetides post.

Have a look on the Boots website. Pretty sure a lot of their calendars reduce by 50% and the Macmillan ones aren’t bad.

Looking forward to seeing the Sephora advent calendars coming to Feel Unique, one for £50 and one for £70, the latter supposedly all full size Sephora own brand products. Interesting as will be something new and won't know what to expect. No "This Works" pillow spray or Ren toner at least.

CorporateBull · 08/10/2022 11:04

I love Sephora and am thrilled they are coming back to the UK. Family calendars are all bought now but next year Sephora would do brilliantly for DD. She almost exploded when I took her to a French one in the summer.

FredaFox · 08/10/2022 11:05

I had a tidy up of all my beauty bits from calendars and beauty boxes past yesterday. I still have bottles of ren toner, I'm sure it multiplies!
That and prai neck cream 🤣
This works pillow spray is always donated to my manager

I’d be very interested in a Sephora AC.
I’m also hoping they do the birthday rewards here.

FIRST15 takes £36 off of Space NK

There was also a code you could use on top of that for an additional free beauty gift, but can't remember off the top off my head

Fingers crossed this will solve my teenage daughter's calendar dilemma....

It works! It takes €36.75 off for me. I’m sitting on my hands

pinkchampagne1 · 08/10/2022 16:01

I have been following this thread and decided to treat myself to the John Lewis calendar. I had it last year and loved it.

for those who are on the fence about the Fenwicks calendar, I have just been to Fenwicks and in store they are offering a lovely free gift beauty bag with a beauty purchase of over £175. It had lots of nice bits in including a Neom candle and Elizabeth Arden day cream. I couldn’t find it online though. 🤔

Zeeza · 08/10/2022 16:10

Oh thats annoying. I dont have a local fenwicks and would probably get it with a beauty bag.

Looked it up as I was telling a friend about it ... ADVENT22 can also be used as a code on top of that to add a free full size Flourish hand duo set. It will take both codes in the basket.

I'm not near one either, which might have swung me in that direction in spite of the price/sizes. There are a number of 50ml products in there that I would love to try, but without the 'extras', hard to justify the increase from £150 (last year's calendar price, similar sizes) to £295 this year (same on the small size product sizes overall). A gift bag with purchase would have made a huge difference to me online, especially since I bought the Fenwick calendar the last 2 years running. I do like their products. 😐

pinkchampagne1 · 08/10/2022 16:20

it’s odd that it isn’t coming up online. It did look a really nice selection of stuff.

bewarethetides · 08/10/2022 16:22

I have gone looking and think I found it: icangwp.com/2022/09/15/whats-in-the-fenwick-beauty-gift-with-purchase-uk-and-fenwick-beauty-advent-calendar-2022/

pinkchampagne1 · 08/10/2022 16:25

Yes that’s it. I couldn’t find any information on the Fenwicks site but it says it’s available online 🤔
